Anybody tried Timney's new RXM trigger?
The advertised 3lb's is lighter than I want for AIWB but, I can't help myself...I want to do something with my trigger and I'm curious.
I installed one about a week ago and it works well. It is much smoother and breaks cleanly as well as shortening the rest a little bit compared to stock. The pull weight with the red "heavier spring" reads 3 lbs 10 oz average on my scale. The other spring that ships with it is supposed to drop the weight to 3# according to the rep I spoke to at Timney.

If they don't have a sale by the 4th, I will order some.

6,000 round review on Youtube. I am watching it now, and I have no idea what he's gonna ultimately say. But a 6K review, is kinda cool. Skip is long montage in the beginning unless you're into that. :D

Interesting review. Should have been 16 minutes shorter.

It is fascinating how much love the RXM gets. Makes me think that there are a lot of people who like Ruger but who would not run a Glock clone before now. As far as Glock clones, I would rate the RXM pretty low on the list for a couple reasons that may not matter to many. Keep reading as I do acknowledge some good things about the platform. Now, I liked building all of mine and doing some cool things to them but it took additional effort to have something I wanted to shoot.

The RXM duty slide is multi optic ready and that is a great feature and it looks nice. I love the simplicity and dependability of a Glock based firing mechanism. It also has an aesthetically pleasing frame that feels fine in the hands and probably great for those with smallish hands.

The downside for me is the frame feels kind of cheap and the material around the outside of the FCU is on the thin side. Will be interesting to see how they hold up long term. Mine scratch/scar easily around the grip surface. The modularity means nothing to me as I want to pick up a gun and go and not fiddle with swapping the FCU to a new frame. If I could only have one registered gun, it is a feature that would be really appealing and the RXM would be on the list for sure. Since I don’t live in a blue state, the FCU insert is not appealing for me, at all, and I don’t agree with the guy doing the video that the Gen 6 should have one and it won’t. Glock clone frames and parts are not expensive so I can build an entire gun for what the FCU costs.

It’s exciting Timney produced an insert for the RXM so you can now have a trigger system that doesn’t feel like it was invented 40 plus years ago. Sorry Gen 3 trigger fans no disrespect meant if you love the Gen 3 trigger feel. Even with the Timney, it has excessive over-travel and the way the trigger housing is designed it is not the best for an adjustable over-travel screw in the housing so you have to get a JG Timney Vex shoe or modify a SPSR trigger so it will take the Timney trigger spring to get a short over-travel and all of that adds to the expense. If I wasn’t such a trigger snob, none of that would be an issue so, in reality, it will probably be fine for many.

Lastly, what in the heck is taking so long to release the full size frame? The pictures are on the website and have been for many months. Release that sucker so I can mod one. I do believe I will like the full size option more than the standard frame as it will fit my hands better.

Agreed on the bold part about clones.

The only thing I disagree with is on your take, is that most of it comes from your stance as an experienced builder of handguns. Most people aren't. Most people aren't going to require that additional effort to have something they want to shoot. Many people will enjoy that ability to possibly change the frame color or size modularity.

I did agree with the reviewer on the trigger being just fine the way it is. I just shoot the RXM really well.

I do wish they'd get the damn frames out. Who knows :D

I am a long time Ruger hater. It stems from prior experience with reliable, but inaccurate guns, and not from Bill Ruger bending over gun owners over full capacity magazines. I divested myself of all of them long ago expect the .22s, but the RXM sucked me in and I do love it. I don't care about add on bits, but I do want the grip frames that were promised. I really only bought the damn thing because I liked the color.

I don’t hate any guns or gun makers but there are some that defy logic and reasoning as to why they are favored more than others. The only thing that comes to mind is the power of a brand name.

Maybe that is it and clones have come a long way. It’s a shame they got a bad rap over the years. In a way, I’m glad people are enjoying the platform and hope it opens the door for more people who will try the different brands of clones and maybe build their own.

The inventor of a product is not always the one who perfects it. For example, Glock has been relatively static until they came out with the GPT. To me, it’s a game changer for the platform. Yeah, it’s kind of a copy of the Timney but Glock made it vastly better than Timney. It only lacks a good adjustable shoe to make it perfect.

Innovation is good and competition is good as it forces companies to push for better products. The more in the space the better the platforms will become. If nothing else, Ruger hopefully opened the eyes to many who may try new products and not just Glock. Maybe this will force Glock to up their game and come out with exciting products as they will continue to lose market share if they don’t. Maybe even a metal framed Glock from Glock as part of a performance line of pistols?

The clones can be every bit as good or better than a Glock so bravo for a major brand name to step into the clone wars. Only good things will come of it. If Ruger made the RXM completely Glock compatible and had a broad selection of frames, I think it would be fantastic but they can’t even get the full size frame released, why?

I intentionally did not release a video on how to convert these to run without an FCU for a few reasons. One being, I didn’t want to hurt those trying to buy the frames as the ATF may have made them change their design. It’s pretty easy to do without an FCU and they can be made quickly and relatively cheaply for a non registered firearm. I sure hope that’s not why there is a delay. The other reason is the prosecutors in blue states are terrifying as there are no checks on their power and they will bend law to get their way and I don’t need that in my life. All it would take is someone using the process to do wrong and I would have to prove my innocence - no thank you.

Any thoughts on how an Apex or Ghost connector might work out in an RXM.
I've polished the connector, trigger bar, striker hook, and safety and changed to a Wolff rp safety spring. The pull weights OK for carry @ about 4.25 - 4.5 lbs and it's smooth, but still rolling. almost like a nice DA revolver trigger.
Maybe a JG Vex shoe with his connector?

I put a Wolff 5lb striker spring in which did make a notable improvement. The pull is pretty consistent at about 3lb13oz Long take up but very smooth, break is not nearly as harsh and significantly more predictable. Actually a pretty decent carry trigger.
