So just looking for some "end user" experience, stuff like quality etc, I've read? that some were made from tool steel? anyway I think I'm a model 78 guy, and it will be part of the Emerg kit for the SUV. Cheers

I'd definitely choose the FM81 wiyh the saw edge. There's no disadvantage to its presence and possibly some real utility to it. I don't know why Glock makes the FM78 any longer.

The FM81 is a great knife at a very small cost.

I've got most of the variations. Still missing the GSSF anniversary knife, which I'd pay handsomely for. I don't have any need for the root saw either, but I do have an 81 in the bin in the back of the car, just in case.

I don’t think the 78 is available new, I couldn’t find any. I have bought 2 of the 81’s, gave one to my son. They are quite nice but are painted so if used much the paint will wear or scratch off. But they are a bargain at the $35 I paid each.

They stopped selling the 78 at the official Glock store some time ago. Even the 81 is only still available in a few remaining colors.

I like the 78 better. If I need a saw I will use the Sven swede saw that is packed in the same suv bag.

I do not like multi tools. One tool, one job. Combo tools always seem like a dysfunctional compromise.

I still own a leatherman and a Swiss Army knife.

But if I want a proper knife or a proper saw I do not want to compromise function.

Are those legit? I'd be very cautious about buying something that's been out of production for years. Unless that seller stocked up on a whole bunch of them, and has been sitting on them for some time now, I'd keep my money.
If they are truly legit, it seems like a really good deal for an FM78.

My G78 is Black.
My G81 is Sand.
I'm still waiting for factory Glock pistols with Sand polymer frames. I'd get one just because.

I bought one from that seller months ago, it is legit. That said, Glock knives suck at everything except stabbing. If you want a real survival/bushcraft knife Morakniv is the best bang for the buck, priced $10-$35 for basic models. Very popular and tough knives.
Yeah, they really aren't cutting knives. Good at chopping, digging, etc. Some interesting videos on YouTube about what people do with them.

I had one and didn't care for it. There are loads of knives I'd choose over Glock for a survival knife - probably even an Ole Hickory butcher knife.
