Tell me about grip extensions, and specifically, how to remove one.

My 19 came with some extra mags from the seller, and two of them have a Pearce grip extender on them, the PG-39 model. Well since it's on a 19, and not a 26, they're really quite unnecessary. My pinky doesn't even get down that far and I'd rather just remove them and put it back to stock, but I don't have the original floor plate of the magazine. Are these easy, and more importantly cheap, to come by? What are they called so I know what to search for?

Since I didn't install the extender, I've no idea what it entailed. Will removal make my magazine explode into its component parts? How much of a PITA are these to remove and replace with stock components? It has a little tack looking thing holding it in and I doubt I've the tool to remove it, so I reckon I'll have to buy that as well.

Take it off like a normal extended magazine base. The factory pieces should be easy to find. PM me your address and I will send you a few; if you don't want the Pearces, you can send them to me and I will use them on one of my subcompact.

Easy. Put a tool such as an ink pen in the little hole on the bottom, depressing the spring plate inside. With this done, squeeze the sides of your mag together and slide the offending base plate off. Careful now, that spring and follower are gonna want to jump out at you.

Keep everything as it came out of the mag tube if you're not sure how to assemble it. Buy your new (cheap) base plates and install in reverse order. See YouTube for a more detailed description if you need it.

Oh. For some reason I imagined it being more complicated than that.
