Steyr AUG A3 M1-quick review

Picked up my white Steyr AUG A3 last week. Came with a 16” barrel with a scope which includes cross hairs and a round circle (Donut of Death) in the middle of cross hairs. Weighs about 7lbs unloaded. Came with a 30 round magazine
I did pick but two 42 round proprietary mags too :)

Anyway gun shoots great. You tube videos say trigger pull is around 9 pds which I was affraid was going to be a bit much. Turns out the trigger is super smooth with a nice clean break. Much nicer than my stock Sig MCX 300 blk out.

Rifle shoots both 5.56 & .233 REM. So far I’ve only shot 55gr 223.

First trip out to the range, this rifle/scope was way off at 50 yards. I couldn’t even hit any of the white target.
But with some “bore sighting”
I was able to shoot pretty good groups at 50 yards. Once I hone
in the scope where I want it, will try it at 100 yards.

I paid $2400.00 including tax.
A bit more than I wanted to spend, but this gun is worth every penny. (in my opinion)
:)

$2400 out the door with the factory scope isn’t a bad deal.

also don’t forget that the gun has an adjustable gas regulator. If some .223 loads are too anemic to cycle the gun, just crank the gas regulator to the bigger circle.

Hey thanks for the heads up on the gas regulator!

Do you shoot 5.56 or .223 out of your gun?

Two things for you: get the mr. clean eraser to keep her white and no m855/steel tip. It will destroy the ramps on that $500 barrel.

I would buy into the "new" barrels from Steyr that are factory threaded American style. They're not chrome lined and something else but I disremember it right now! Send it off to PJs and have him remove the factory FH. If you look around you can find a 51t or something that will mate well with your can.

Just saw an email flyer from Aim Surplus. They have surplus Steyr Aug 556x45 30 round mags for $22. I think these would count toward the free shipping on $50 of gun parts. Described as "Used condition as the pictures show but mechanically these magazines are in excellent condition."

https://aimsurplus.com/surplus-steyr-aug-5-56x45-30rd-magazines/

Not sure if that's a good price or not, but posting just in case.
