Smooth G48 Trigger Face

I have a G48 with a serrated grooved trigger face that I wish was smooth.

I am aware that there is no Glock smooth trigger assembly for another Glock model that I can use as a replacement (example I replaced my G30 serrated trigger assembly with a smooth G21 trigger assembly).

Is it possible to buy a smooth trigger assembly for another Glock model then remove and replace the serrated and smooth faced trigger pieces without replacing the entire trigger assembly?

I have read posts where people have filed or used sandpaper on the grooves to make them smooth - I really don't want to do that.

Thanks, Bill

Hey Bill, While not a direct answer to your question, I will say that it really doesn't take much to "round out" the rough edges of the grooves on the trigger shoe. I just use some fine grit sand paper back and forth along the shoe until the sharp edges are toned down. I don't completely remove the grooves, just smooth them out a bit. It literally takes about five minutes. You can still see the grooves (can hardly tell they've been smoothed out), but it feels WAY better. No need to remove the trigger at all, just use some tape to protect the areas where you don't want the sandpaper to hit. The amount of work to sand the shoe face is significantly less than trying to replace the shoe, and it doesn't cost anything. I've done it to all my Glocks with grooved trigger shoes.

Are the smooth trigger shoes from another Glock models the same size that the G48 uses? Can you give me a couple of Glock models that the smooth trigger shoe would work on the G48?

The trigger shoes are the same across all Glock models, you could swap in a smooth shoe from a G17 onto your existing G48 trigger bar and be good to go. I did the same thing a few years ago with my G43.

Saw this older thread and had some additional questions: If I order any model smooth Glock faced factory trigger shoe, will it fit my G48? Also, how difficult is it to replace the factory grooved trigger with just the smooth faced shoe? I plan on also installing the "5 Dot" connector in the G48. Does anyone have any experience with that type of connector?

Just swap a smooth shoe and be done with. I made a jig and have done a bunch of these for people. Heck with all this other sanding/dremel nonsense and expensive trigger “upgrades”.

Thanks very much...I do not want to use any aftermarket trigger parts at all. Don't have a problem using aftermarket otherwise (mags/sights etc), just not internals. I'll research the johnnyglocks library. I just spoke to a rep at glockstore (finally) and they estimate it will take them 2 weeks or more to ship out any parts...like the connector or the trigger bar set.

kage33; Just to let you know, I called Apex and they said that there is no way to change out a Glock trigger shoe safely or remove the trigger from the bar itself..."it will destroy the trigger", "blow out the side of the trigger" etc. The also said that they use their own manufactured trigger shoe, but the bar itself is a Glock original part. I asked, but the customer service rep couldn't explain how they accomplish that if removing the shoe from a trigger bar set "destroys" the trigger itself.

Not true...
