Sig P250 Reliability ?

I'm thinking about purchasing a P250, but I'm seeing some posts on various other web sites about unreliability.

I trust/value feedback from the folks on Glock Talk more than any other web site - can anyone here offer any insight, or comment on their experience with the P250 ?

Thanks...

I have a P250 Subcompact in 9mm. Born-on date is 12/26/2009. I've only shot 150 rounds through it so far, but its been 100% reliable, and is a great shooter. The trigger is like an ultra smooth, ultra light S&W J-frame trigger pull. Its the best DA trigger pull I've ever experienced on a factory stock gun.

My only complaint is the fact that Sig is only sending them out with one mag; the magazines for the P250 Subcompact are hard to find. I think that the earlier models had a few bugs, but as long as you get a recently manufactured one, you should be good to go.

My fiance has one that was produced in 08.
There are probably 250 rounds through it.
The trigger is a little over 8lbs, and 3/4'' long. Sig does sell a 'short trigger' that reduces the pull by half.
There have been a couple FTFeed and a few no-lock on empty.

The SIG P-250 Compact in .357SIG is the new service pistol for the US Air Marshal Service.
The pistol was picked due to selfishness and greed. The S&W M&P was flatter shooting ,less felt recoil and functioned like a champ!

SIG has yet to start to delivering to FAMS, seems the gun has some issues!

FAM Service starting to worry if FAMS will start changing caliber's and slides when on duty. HEEEE, HEEEE,HEEEEE, I would..LOL

As for the SIG 229 or referred to by FAMS as SIG ****-in-Garbage, developed a lot of problems with the US Secret Service AND FAMS. Rust, corrosion, cracked slides,Cracked triggers and broke trigger springs. The problems got so bad the US Secret Service came out with a book to help agents identify the problems before they happen. Book sold to highest bidder!

No, I do not hate sig, I carry a SIG 232.:tongueout:

I recently bought a Sig P250, when i first got the gun, i did have problems with jamming like some other user's did.

When i went to the range for the first time, had four jams with 190 rounds of Blazer 115 Gr. fmj. Went back to the range the second time with 150 rounds of Blazer 115 Gr. fmj and had two jams, but this time i noted my round count and both jams were at 13 + 1. That being said, it was a problem with the mag and not the gun.

The gun shop offered to exchange the mag for another one, went back to the range with 100 rounds of Blazer 115 Gr. fmj, no jams.

My gun was manufactured last year when there was a big push to get guns out on the market, i think alot of the reliability problems with the P250 was due to out of spec mags.

If your having issues with a Sig P250 jamming, take a look at your mag. Note the round count when it jam's and write that down to see if there's a pattern.

My old mag was only marked with a 10 rd hole and had 12 coils on the spring, my new mag is marked with a 16 rd hole and has 10 coils on the spring.

My Sig P250 is great and one of the best pistols I've ever owned.

As for the no lock on empty, try and note your thumb location when that happens. Sigs slide stop levers are located far to the rear (kind of where the 1911 safety is located). As a once long time 1911 shooter (who shoots with the thumb on the thumb safety), I rarely lock the slide back on a Sig. If you are holding the lever down on the last round, it is not a mechanical problem with the gun (though arguably a design issue :whistling:).

This is the first time I have heard or read anything about reliability issues with the P250. The main complaints I have encountered is that some people just don't like the ergonomics and/or aren't impressed with how it shoots. Most of the P250 owners seem pretty happy so that counts for something. The P250 doesn't fit my tastes but reliability would not be a concern for me.

You may want to check with the folks over on SigForum since most of those members own Sigs (very odd, I know).

There are hundreds of threads discussing the 250, including this three year old 121 page thread with 2,400+ posts.

I sampled the 250 two weeks ago in a class (my range gun is a 226ST), and the DAO 250 action is extremely smooth. As for reliability, I have no first hand experience on that topic.

I liked the ergos, but I'm not a DAO fan.

No thanks, Sig isn't what they used to be. They are still living on the German manufacturing reputation. Once they moved state side and hired the former Kimber Exec, it all went down hill from there. Get a Glock or M&P!
I agree. Surprisingly actually, the Germans were having design issues with the 250, and the boys in Exeter worked them out.

The Mimber-Kimber regime is trying to push too much product out the door too fast in 83 gazillion flavors (P-Series).

The 250 mix 'n match concept was actually brilliant. Operations and marketing couldn't make it happen for two years, even to the point of dropping the SigPro (and resurrect it), and by then it was too late.

I'll pass, having shot many rounds through various Glocks and the Sig P250, there is no way on this earth that your going to covince me that any Glock is better then a Sig, especially the P250.
I'm not a fan of either, and they are totally different platforms.

I'm a new P250 owner, 45 fullsize, and love it. Mine doesn't like WWB 185 grain. Not sure why, because it has been completely reliable w/ everything else, including HPs. Having owned an m&p, I can say they are also very good. Take a close look at the trigger of each, as that seems to be the make or break point for most people. And then, chose the one that feels the best and you can't go wrong.
