Sig P229 SAS vs. Sig P229 Legion

Hey All,

I have narrowed my graduation gift to myself down to the .357sig versions of the Sig P229 SAS, or the Sig P229 Legion. Where I am looking they are so close in price(within $200) it's making me indecisive as I cannot get both.

While I have held the regular P229 as well as the Legion, and love the way both guns feel in my hand, unfortunately I cannot shoot either one before I buy it, so I need to make the determination on other factors and hope I like it.

For those that have both, have shot both, and or, have carried both. Which one should I get?

Thanks in advance for all the suggestions.

I recommend looking for a P229 Sport. Built to super high standards in Germany...

Bac, I love your gun pictures, and I really want one of those. However, I think that would be very difficult to carry for me. It definitely made it onto my purchase list though for awesome firearms to own.

I would not spend that kind of money with a company who can't build consistent quality firearms - even for police. You are setting yourself up for a lot of disappointment. Check out the NJSP SIG lawsuit.
I read it, and it has not been my experience with Sig, they have practically showered me with free stuff and deals for the past few years. Also the USSS is still carrying the P229 and hasn't to my knowledge, sued Sig Sauer.

I personally love my P229 Legion in .357 SIG, don't think you could go wrong with either. You might also want to consider a Stainless Elite P229 in .357 SIG. Here's my P229 Legion in .357 SIG.

Big congrats on Graduation!!

The P229 is a terrific pistol in any variation, mine are older plain Jane model when that is all they made LOL. You do get some extras with the Legion though which may have a better trigger, better sights, G10 grips, and frame undercut at the trigger guard. My self I would go for the Legion but either one being a P229 so you can't go wrong.

Congratulations. My EDC is a Legion P226. I'm a recent (last 12 months) Sig fan. I have put many thousands of rounds through this Sig with ZERO malfunctions. That is including a lot of my own reloads with range brass. It is absolutely the best carry weapon I've owned.

My bedside weapon is an HK45, but that is too big for me to conceal. Actually, the pistol isn't. It is the abnormally large magazine base pad that is too big.

I like the squared off trigger guard (know I'm in a minority). On some guns, that type of trigger guard is used in my grip, I think it helps my rapid fire stay put.

Anyway, enjoy!
