Shot the Springfield XD-s the other day

I went to the range with a friend, who brought his new XD-s in 9mm. I shot close to a full box of ammo, while letting him try my Scar-16. It's very small, fits in my hand okay, better with the extended magazine. The trigger is similar to other XD's I have tried, a little mushy before the break, and springy after.. Only minor issues were that the ejection was erratic between very strong and very week (115gr PPU stuff), although none to the face, and that my thumb kept hitting the slide release, causing the gun to cycle after firing the last round. I will need to work on that if I decide to use it for CCW. But I feel I have better options at this point. The positives are its size, soft recoil, and accurate. Here is a target at 7 yards, unsupported (both hands), 2-3 seconds of split time.

I had both calibers in the XD-S. I sold the 9MM to a women that loved it after shooting it. She was having a problem finding a gun that fit her. I never had a problem with either gun before or after the recall. I kept the .45 because I like it's size, accuracy, and reliability.

I bought the 45 XDS because I already had a number of compact guns in 9mm, Shield, Nano, LC9, etc.

I didn't expect I'd especially like the XDS and it was $100 more than the other compacts.

I was surprised. I like the XDS so well I bought a second one and put Crimson Trace rail lasers on both of them.

I have my xds on discreet carry duty now. A little easier to hide in slacks and a tucked in shirt. It's a little snappier than my 30s but very manageable. And yes, plenty accurate. Disappears in a crossbreed mini tuck.

Got mine back last month after they were gone for over 100 days due to the safety's recall. Checked them out a few range trips back, and fired the .45 once again before carrying it again.

They are great pistols, no matter which caliber you go with.

I have in 9 and .45, love them both and they get lot's of CCW time. I carry them in a PJholster, works awesome.

Do you notice a distinct difference between the two in terms of muzzle flip and recoil? I've been told it's pretty negligible.

Well the responses to this thread and about 1000 others have convinced me to buy a xd-s 9.

I shopped locally and the best I could get was 540+ tax. I found one online for 470 and my gunsmith does $10 transfers. I love supporting local but this time the price gap was too wide. All dealers only had 1 in stock so they weren't looking to budge on the price.

Hope to have it early next week and see how it shoots and carries IWB compared to my G26.
What really sold me on it is the fact that the grip is marginally longer than the g26 but enough to get a full grip with my dainty hands. My pinky is on the factory baseplate so I'm hoping there's no pinching during firing.

There is not a huge difference, but you can definitely tell when you shoot the .45. The amazing thing is how small these things are and how controllable and accurate they are. I would put the .45 almost on par with my Glock 30 in the accuracy department. I have not been disappointed (well, a little when I sent it back for 2.5 months, recall) at all in either of these little pistols. They have been 100% reliable since round one.

Cool, thanks. I love mine (.45acp).

Good thing the XDS feeds my 200 grain lead SWC 45 bullets, because that's my standard plinking load.

I have to redo this picture and change the XDX to XDS. Don't know why I wrote XDX.

What light is that?

Oh, and I actually shoot the standard mag with the grip extender better than the extended cap mag.
