I haven't shot this in awhile. CVA Scout V2. Most of my loads are subsonic loaded with TiteWad or Unique. The bullets are 150gr Xtreme, 90Gr XTP, and .30 Mauser 86gr Hornady. No worries on cycling/feeding with a single-shot.

The 150gr TiteWad loads are the quietest. I shot several 110gr .30carbine Xtreme reloads which were not as quiet. I'm thinking about working up some cast/PC loads since my FIL gave me a couple hundred 105gr and 165gr boolits. Probably will use TiteWad or Nitro100 for them.

Interesting. If you are ok with telling us (really me!) what made you go 300BLK with that long of a barrel? And sub? I'm only shooting supers out of a shorty and it's great for HD at the distances I'd use it. I'll be reloading for it soon. Just haven't had the time. Enjoy.

A couple comments here. I’ve had an SBR T/C Contender chambered in .300 Whisper for 20-some years.

Longer barrels have the advantage of not needing to be registered as an SBR if you want to use a butt stock. All else being equal, longer barrels are generally quieter than short barrels.

While supersonic expanding bullets are going to be better for home defense, that’s not the only use for a rifle. And a break-action single-shot is not the ideal tool for HD anyway, so I’m guessing the OP is using it for other purposes.

While my gun shoots heavy subs very well, it shoots the lightweight subs equally well. Most .30 caliber bullets are designed for high velocity. They basically just poke an ice pick hole through a target. Expanding subsonic .30 caliber bullets had been a speciality proposition until recent years.

On the other hand, the lightweight .30 and .32 caliber pistol bullets expand nicely even at subsonic velocities. I’ve used both 90 gr. XTP and .32 caliber 85 gr. XTP sized down to .309”. I think I played with some resized 100 gr. Gold Dots at one time as well.

You never know when you’re going to be attacked by a rabid squirrel. A heavy sub might be overkill, but an expanding 90-100 gr.hollow point should do just right.

Looks like a cool setup and I bet pretty accurate too. I'm missing a good single shot in my collection. Personally, I don't understand the appeal of the 300 blackout. Most shoot 200grs. at subsonic velocities here. That's, um, well, equivalent to most off-the-shelf 10mm's these days. And while 10mm isn't cheap, it's a lot cheaper than 300BO. Sure the 300 has a higher BC, but even so, no one I know shoots them at 300 yards. Most are 100 yards or less. Suppressed subsonic 10mm is a hoot to shoot.

Nice. I think that will be my next caliber choice.
Thanks. I love the BLK.

When I bought this I didn't yet have suppressors or know much about .300BLK but 16" is the only length CVA offered in .300BLK. I actually do like the longer barrel because I do shoot some supers and like the extra performance from them.

Thanks. Bergara makes these rifles and CVA imports them so the barrels are very accurate. This one will shoot 1/2" groups at 100yds with supersonic ammo.

Here's what I love about the 300BLK:

1. Cheap brass(.223) is easily converted to 300BLK. I buy 5.56 blanks which are cheap and didn't have much pressure applied to them on their first firing.

2. Projos: Any .308 will work. With the single-shot I'm not limited to needing to cycle an action so I load pistol bullets as well

3. 3.0 grains of powder per load is danged cheap

4. The range of the cartridge. Think .380ACP all the way to near 30-30 rifle performance. I load 700-1000fps subsonic plinkers all the way up to 2500fps supersonic rounds.

5. Ever seen a .309" 90gr XTP HP pistol bullet impact something at 2500fps? Good God it is something to behold. Blew the entire shoulder off an armadillo lol. Water jugs don't split, they are blown into pieces.

I was going to do a good vid for y'all but am out of the crazy 90gr XTP super loads. I do have some 86gr .30 Mauser RN loaded to 2200fps with 20gr of Lil'gun though. They are not as explosive as the HPs and turn themselves inside out on impact rather than the XTPs nose exploding on impact.

I enjoy 300BLK but haven't yet loaded for it. I like the 110gr Hornady Black & 110gr Hornady TAP with GMX bullet. I have 100 rounds of 200+gr Hornady Black but not what I've settled on for the 300BLK. Too close to 45ACP for that, IMO. Love it for close distance. SO light and maneuverable and not anywhere near as obnoxious as a short 5.56/223.

I have shot several hogs and one deer with my AR in 300 BO. I love it for the same reason I love 30-06, the huge range of bullet weights you can load and fire with those two calibers is amazing. BO goes from 30-30 levels performance to super quiet suppressed but still effective for hunting at short ranges.

Recently I bought another single shot rifle for OP’s same reason but have yet to set it up, this hunting season has been 30-06 only for me. Mine is a Traditions Outfitter and I have yet to scope it and test so I can’t comment. I looked at the CVA but good luck finding one, they are sold out everywhere at least in BO.

A single shot rifle is light for a day driving deer, and has the huge advantage of not having an action cycling when shooting suppressed. Will still use the AR for hogs because multiple shots are frequent there, but that will be pretty much it.

I'll be looking for your review of the Traditions. Kicking myself for not buying one in .357 when I could have for $200 awhile back.
:cool:Nice!

I recently picked up a CVA Scout Take Down in 45-70 as a suppressor host. Will be shooting it this weekend with subsonic 45-70. Really looking forward to smacking steel with it.:)

Awesome! I wish I had bought a .45 suppressor so I could have set up a CVA in .44mag for suppressed use.
