Due to a pretty severe illness I haven't been to the range as I had for some time. Until this time my 43x and 48mos have worked flawlessly, the 43x with S15 mags and the 48 with PSA micro dagger mags. After several rounds at the range with my 48 I noticed that my slide wasn't locking back after the last round with TWO of my THREE PSA mags. Lock-back with OEM mags was fine throughout. It was weird as I hadn't experienced that before with thousands of rounds.

One thing I noticed was that one mag was different than the other two. It had a poly "notch" where the other two had metal where the notch windows were (see photo). Could that itself explain it? Perhaps partially. But this had never happened before. Could it be the slide stop? I took my 48 apart and inspected the slide stop. No visible wear or damage. But would the problem exist with another slide stop? I had a new Ghost extended slide stop in the bin though I do like the OEM slide locks. I installed the Ghost slide stop and all my mags locked back as they should have. What I hadn't noticed before was there was a difference in the mags. I had ordered them in two batches as I had two other of them that got legs. I presume the ones with the metal notches are the replacements.

I guess the next step is to order a new OEM slide stop lock which will hopefully indicate that it was the slide lock that was the problem Unfortunately I cannot test these mags in my 43x as it has the steel mag catch for S15 mags.

Glock mags (and springs) are one OE part that works really well. I don't see the pay-off in aftermarket substitutions. This kind of thing would be super irritating, and seems like it's completely avoidable. Other than basepads and tuning springs for special applications, I wouldn't mess with Glock mags.

The PSA Micro Dagger mags are on their third "revision".

The mag on the left with the polymer in the mag catch notch is one of the initial releases of the Micro mags (version 1).

The middle and right side mags look like the second "run"/production of the Micro mags (version 2). What I've noticed is the 2nd run (version 2), PSA removed the polymer from the mag catch notch, and they used a different follower.

The new current Micro Dagger mags (version 3) have have a red follower.

When the slide isn't locking back, did it occur with all the mags? or isolated to version1 or version2?
I would suspect the slide not locking back on the last round is a mag follower problem. Especially if you tested the slide lock lever with OEM Glk mags.

Some people have reported that the follower in version 2 seemed to wear faster.

I don't know if that's the reason PSA came out with version 3 with the red follower.

In any case, PSA has a lifetime warranty on their products.
When you have isolated which mags were causing the problem, you can always file a warranty claim with PSA.

Update…
It wasnt the mags. IT WAS THE OEM SLIDE LOCK. There was no VISIBLE wear or damage, but the problem was fixed by changing the slide lock. It just happened that unusually and out of nowhere the lock-back failed on these two mags from tge second batch I ordered.

FWIW… while minimal occurrences, I have more FTF‘s with OEM mags that I do with the PSA mags or S 15’s.

About the time I made my first post I went into my bin and retrieved the new ghost extended slide lock that I hadn’t used yet- because I’m truly trying to stay as close to OEM as I can be (within practical reason).

and just yesterday I went with my daughter who bought a new G 48MOS at the local range. One of the first things that I did was put the PSA mags in her new pistol and see if the slide locked back. There were no issues and the PSA mags locked back just fine in her new gun. I ran all three of my PSA mags with the new slide lock in and the problem was solved. I have a new OEM slide lock on order which I will install when it gets here.

as long as we’re sidetracked on non OEM issues, as I expected she hated the serrated OEM trigger shoe that comes on all 40 eights. We were fortunate that the range gave us a space to try some things and I had several shoes already mounted on trigger bars. It appears that she liked Johnny Glocks flat face trigger shoe that he no longer sells. 2nd place was OEM smooth shoe. Did not like the JG Vex shoe at all. But I think when I do the $.25 trigger job for her next week I’ll put back the Glock OEM smooth trigger shoe.
And as far as “Glock perfection goes, I wasn’t surprised that a brand new Glock had scuff marks on the long bar on the back underneath of the slide. I’ll polish that out next week.

I use Ghost Bullet slide stops on most of my Glocks, 1000s of rounds , no issues

The only mag related issues I've had were with PMags and some people seem to be ready to fight you if you dare talk bad about MagPul. I use them as range mags I can drop on the ground without caring.

Full disclosure: I have ZERO personal experience owning or using PMAG 9's.

The Instructor at my re-cert for my Glock Armorer's Course in 2024 shared an experience from his previous incarnation as a PMC Firearms Instructor: Out of approx. 100 Magpul GL-9 magazines used to instruct former .mil contractors for OCONUS assignments, 97 **** the bed early on, and all were written off once the entire, multi-day COF was completed, never again to be sourced.

His best line of the course: "Glock is like a magazine company that makes pretty decent handguns."

Just buy the damn Glock mags. They work. If you find a particular flavor of Shield Arms, PSA or whateverthehell that works flawlessly, BUY THEM. That being said, there are pages upon pages here that repeat that OEM, 10 round Glock mags work perfectly in the G48 and G43(X). The rest is up to you and the requirements of your particular mission set.

I’m not sure what’s happening. So far I’ve broken a ghost extended slide stop and then OEM slide stop not including this current one.

my memory sucks these days, but the PSA mags locked back just fine in my daughter‘s new 48 that we just picked up this week.

However, I was just contacted by PSA and they are sending me new springs and followers. I should have them in a few days. What I may do is put the old slide stuff back in put the new springs and followers in and see if that makes a difference with the slide stop that I’ve been having issues with.

That's what I was just wondering
Yes. This is the part that has now been sidelined. The PSA mags lock back fine with the Ghost Extended slide lock and my daughter's new G48mos. I will have her Glock in my hands later this afternoon to do a 25¢ trigger job and I'll take a moment to see if this part fails in her Glock too. In the meantime, PSA is sending me replacement springs and followers.
