The list is longer then this:

Mossberg MC2
FN 509/FNX
Bersa BP9
Berreta PX4
Stoeger STR
Savage Stance
IWI Masada
Canik Mete / TP9

All the Turkey XD, Walther, Berreta Clones

Reasons I don't acquire all those guns. In a few years; when they stop making them; as they inevitably will. Spare parts and magazines. Rare guns never sold in large numbers.

I only own mainly Glocks with XD and M&P as alternates/backups. Parts and mags in the future? More likely than those other brands.

Anyone else feel the same way with those other companies not fully into the handgun market?

How about that mag shortage with the CZ P-10C they blew out for $300 a while back? Will they make more or did they discontinue it?

And all these new to market Glock clones. Are they better than a Glock? Are they just as good but cheaper? Just toys to tinker with at this point.

I don't worry about new made "oddball" guns as I don't succumb to the allure of the latest and greatest. In fact, most of the new stuff on the market bores me to death.

I do have a few old and/or unusual guns or just plain old and mostly obsolete stuff in the hoard, but since I don't really shoot them, I doubt if they will ever break under my ownership. For instance I have a few Star and Astra pistols, some prewar Colt and Smith and Wesson revolvers and a couple of real oddballs like a CZ RV85.

I agree, if you are going to make a Glock clone it ought to use Glock mags.

And that's where Palmetto State Armory got it right with their Dagger pistols. They use Glock mags and Glock parts and are interchangeable with Gen 3 Glocks. Plus the price is right.

I think CZ is still frustrated that the Czech military that went to Afghanistan and Iraq chose Glock over anything from CZ.

While I can't argue with the PX4 being on a list of oddballs, it is a great firearm.

That’s your idea of oddball guns???

I disagree, I like your reliable oddball guns, but just my internet opinion…

What’s odd about the PC4? The rotating barrel?

They’re made by the hundreds of thousands and before that it was the Cougar.

It’s pretty funny what some of you consider to be odd.
Pretty much, yeah. It never really caught on, and the rotating barrel is unusual. Other than the fact that I like it, it doesn't stand out on that list.

I like Regular common pistols with a reliable platform like the Beretta 92 series , Glock double-stacks , and CZ's. They are the "Toyota Corolla" of the pistol world. They run and run with hardly any problems and parts are easily found almost anywhere.

I have guns that were limited in production and even when in production the spare parts were hard or impossible to get.
The good news is that third-party companies are producing tuned replacement parts so I just replace used parts with tuned ones.

But I would never buy a gun for EDC that's limited in this way, I don't trust tuned gun with my life and here is where the Glock really shines - OEM parts are available in every gun shop, if not - they will order them for you no problem.

I enjoy having unique guns but have the same fears that you mention about being able to buy springs and such in the future. I'm an idiot who normally waits until I hear they're going to stop making gun before I buy a handful of spare springs.

There are other companies that are doing Glock better than Glock. Glock plods along without really changing anything, while other companies bring updates to the market.
I own poly guns from just about every major company that makes them and have come to the conclusion that Glock is going to have to adapt. I think the future for poly guns will be chassis guns.

You are spot on on parts though. I bought a complete second FN just to get the magazines.

CZ 40B....they were supposed to be the Colt Z40 but built by CZ. Kind of a cross between a CZ 75B and a 1911.The deal with Colt fell through and CZ sold them off as the CZ 40B. Some of the internal parts will interchange with other CZs but none of the major pieces like barrel slide and frame will.

Another bad thing about owning such guns is the problem of finding a holster, I usually try to find compatible one because there is none for that particular model.
Sometimes you may need to grind a bit of Kydex and it fits perfectly.
