I just picked up the 4" compact version today locally for $599! The grip shape and texturing is absolutely amazing! The trigger is really great also. I do like the compatability with Glock sights. The slide serrations work really well. They are real grippy, however are not sharp. There was still way too much snow today, so I was unable to get out and shoot it though.

I have quite the extensive holster collection that covers pretty close to most popular (and some obscure) pistols, however I could not find a holster that it fit in.

I only wish I was in the market for a new pistol. That compact would be the first on my list for sure. The Honest Outlaw video I watched two or three days ago had him firing it in negative 20 degree weather, and it worked flawlessly. The only reason the slide didn't lock back a couple or more times was because he rides the left slide release with his thumbs. Other than that, it was fine. Good luck with yours!

I'm happy with my PPQ M2 for now.

Hit the only metro Phoenix gun shop that had them when they opened today at 10am. They had 20 and all were sold already - price was $599. They did not know when they would have more and thought the PDP's would be showing up in other stores in 3 weeks.

Went into a shop yesterday in Tempe that is pretty on top of things. They told me they would not have them for 1-2 months, but thought their retail price would be $679 (seemed high to me compared to their usual prices).

I've got a different LGS that is my usual "go to" that will let me know when they get one in - looking at the Compact 4" - I like the idea of using PPQ M2 mags, etc. - and its the overall size I like.

All my guns are carry guns and after years of carrying I find that 5 inches and 15 rounds is the sweet spot for the measurement from top of slide to bottom of grip and capacity is concerned.

Is it true the PDP comes in at 5.4 inches?

Happyguy :)

5.3 inches I believe, the same as the PPQ. I agree too with 5.0 inches being the sweet spot for me which my Gen 2 Glock 19 does nicely. M&P 2.0 Compacts are also the same.

Good for Walther but since I have no desire to put a red dot on my PPQ I am perfectly content with my PPQ M1 which also has the paddle magazine release.

Justin Opinion does a nice side by side comparison on the PPQ and PDP including shooting both. He could not tell any difference with the trigger while handling and shooting both but his Lyman gauge found the PDP trigger to be 6 ounces lighter than the PPQ. He also could not pick a preference of one over the other either. Personally I like the aesthetics of my PPQ over the PDP but I can understand Walther needed to reconfigure the slide to make the optics ready option.

Haven't seen it mentioned but could have missed it. The slide is cut for Glock front and rear sights. This is very smart on Walthers part. I would love to see more standardization on sight cuts across the industry.

Yeah... I talked about my findings related to the Glock sight measurements in the original post.

Based on the size and shape of the trigger guard, I wonder if the PDP Compact will fit in a Glock 19 holster.
No. I just last week bought a PDP. It is fatter than a Glock 19, and even a little wider than my Walther PPQ. For the time being I've found a couple holsters in my warehouse...uh, closet, that will hold the PDP: A couple that were made for the Glock model 21, and one for the S&W .45acp M&P.

Shortly after my reply above, I picked up a PDP 4" compact. It is not my EDC.

I put a Holosun 507C ACSS Vulcan on it (my 1st pistol red dot). I love it - great choice.

I went with 2 different holsters -
For 2-gun classes -
Comp-Tac International with a Safariland QLS attachment to a Single Strap Leg Shroud (DFA). I've ran it in 2 classes. Smooth function - no issues.
