Was just watching MythBusters testing the "Shoot Em Up" merry-go-round myth. They used a Glock in 9mm, a S&W for .44 Magnum, and a 1911 for .45 ACP. When they listed the foot-pounds of each caliber, they listed the .45 as having 2000 foot pounds of energy. I used to have respect for that show.

Fact check FAIL!

They just now tested if you could shoot a handgun laying on the ground out of a person's reach. Myth Confirmed, but they ruined 3 handguns. They used a Glock to do the shooting. Was kinda hoping they would shoot at a Glock - another torture test.

They've been wrong in the past, and when called out they've admitted it - i.e. the running in the rain making you more wet episode and then changing the experiment which showed it made you less wet.

They've admitted to errors in their calculations before.

The last example I remember was Jamie's claim that two cars colliding head on at 50 mph would be the same as one car colliding with a brick wall at 100 mph.

Nope...it's the same as one car colliding with a brick wall at 50 mph. They asserted it, viewers disputed it, they tested it, and admitted their error (the important aspect here).

Pfft that's nothing. The 10mm has 10,000ft lbs of energy. 1k ft lbs per mm.
If your 10mm cartridges only have 10,000 ft lbs of energy, y'all ain't handloadin' 'em right.

I think you might could have left off the exponent; you really meant 10,000e20, right?

<--- loads 10mm so powerful that, when fired, they hit the Enterprise in the 24th century.

I used to respect them a bit too. Until they started "testing" movie myths like they were real. Shooting a merry-go-round to make it move? Really?

Wasn't Harry using a .44 Special out of his model 29?
