Only reason I can see needing the extra mounting strength and repeatability of a 1913 attachment on a rail is with an IR laser or if you want to mount a larger thermal or night vision scope forward of the optic. But those only need 1913 on the top thus a quad is a waste. Maybe one of those chainsaw attachments they make for ARs, they attach to the bottom. For a light, hand stop, vertical grip, etc Mlok is more than fine. As far as I am concerned you have exactly what you need on the rail and thats it. I don't need a whole bunch of empty rail sections to have to throw covers on.

I've got all three on various ARs.
Pic rail is most versatile and some of my favorite accessories are for pic rail so all my Mlok & Keymods have at least one accessory pic rail, usually for my Harris bipod w/Larue QD mount.

I think Keymod is the better design but as mentioned, a bare Mlok rail does look better and Mlok is becoming the standard. Midwest Ind. makes some superlight pic rail handguards but if you're looking at lightweight budget options it'll probably be Mlok or Keymod.

Mlok & Keymod have the advantage for being smaller in diameter and not needing any ladder rail covers if you're gripping it. Most mlok & keymod setups I've seen are better ventilated too.

Last few uppers I've bought are mlok, that's my preference these days. But would never rip a perfectly good pic rail or keymod setup from an upper.
