Glad you asked this question. I am a new 43 owner myself, and mine do the same. Kind of disappointing and unfortunately I don't have a solution but trying to practice mag changes on the range I was failing miserably because they wouldn't drop free every time
What mags are you using? The Glock 6 rounders that came with your gun, or others?

I'm confused by the 01 vs 02 magazine and spring. Do Glock 43's come with 01 or 02 springs in their mags and how does one know or find out? Can you purchase a Glock 43 from your local gun store with the 01 mag spring?

Pearce +1 extension work best with 01 mag springs?

Another option, carry two Glock 43's, one in each pocket, left side pocket, right side pocket. Faster to draw and not have to reload when you're confronted by 2 or 3 robbers.

Or, carry a Glock 43 and a S&W 340PD 12oz in each pocket.

A newly produced 43 will come with 02 mags. You might be able to find a new, old stock, gun with 01 mags but you'll have to open it up and look at the mags. If you look back in this thread you will see pics of magazines. Look at the bottom of the mags close to the baseplate. Pearce +1 will work with 01's not 02's. There are "fixes" to the issues with the 02 springs mentioned in this thread.

Supposedly Pearce now has extensions that work with the -02 mags. I haven’t seen them, but I’ve seen it mentioned.

Yes, they do. I have ordered several from Midway USA, and even the Pearce packaging denotes Compatible with -02 mags on it. They're great. Like I said, I've been quite happy running the new Pearce +1s with Magguts +1 Z-springs. My G43 is reliable with OEM 6 rounders and my concocted 8 rounders that look as good as and are same size as OEM pinky mags. :)

If the heavy 02 spring is working with the +1 extensions that should be a good fit. A little extra power can never hurt.

Here is a photo that compares the old Pearce +1 baseplate for the G43 (left) and the updated version that they have been selling (right).

The main difference between the two versions of Pearce+1 s that the updated version (right) is about 2mm deeper to accommodate the new 02 mag spring that is made of a thicker wire and has one more coil than the 01 mag spring.

The updated version works with the old 01 mag body/tube because the 01 and 02 mag bodies/tubes are essentially the same dimension wise. However, the stock 01 spring will not have strong enough tension to work reliably in the extended mag with the updated Pearce+1 baseplate for long term, even though a fresh 01 mag spring may work initially.

That's exactly what I was thinking, that I probably wouldn't use the updated Pearce extensions with the old 01 mags.

I generally like Pearce "capacity adding baseplates" for Glocks. On my G26 mags that I carry as spare/back-up, I am still using Pearce+2 baseplates. However, unlike most other +1 mag extensions for the G43, Pearce+1 for the G43 does not come with an appropriate extra power mag spring to go with it. Instead, it relies on GLOCK OEM mag spring, which is supposed to be designed exclusively for the OEM 6-rounder mag.... (And the infamous "overkill" 02 mag spring does not even work well with the OEM "02" 6-rounder mags for which it is supposed be designed....)

Anyway, I would not use the updated version of Pearce+1 with the old 01 mag spring because it will not sustain strong enough tension over time. But I would also be hesitant to use the updated version of Pearce+1 with the new 02 mag spring (even though they are supposed to be compatible) because I have seen people having difficulties loading the 7th round as it gets too tight....

Unless I am using MagGuts+1 with Pearce+1 to make a custom 8-round mag like you are using (I still have the two I made a while back), I would just use Ghost +11% mag spring to go with Pearce+1 because the combination works.(y)
