Is there a mossberg shockwave mag extension?

I'm looking for a plus 1 or 2, but I've been an 870 guy my whole life and don't have any Mossy 590's. I'm a little unfamiliar with them. Anyone recommend any good mag extensions?

How would you attach the barrel?

Mossbergs usually are a little different. With their full size guns you have to change out the entire tube and barrel because of how they attached to each other

Unless you want the magazine to stick out a couple inches past the end of the barrel, the magazine is as long as it can be.

I don't mind it sticking out an inch or three. It doesn't affect the shot column leaving the barrel, so i don't care about that. But it sounds like that's not really an option of Mossbergs?

Don't get the Shockwave.

I have a regular 500 20 gauge with the 18" barrel and the Shockwave grip, it's just about as handy as the Shockwave, a bit more polite. Four inches longer.

If I wanted to extend the magazine, it'd be cheaper to get a replacement barrel and matched magazine. Also neater, and I'd rather have the barrel extend past the magazine than the other way around, since I believe the barrel better able to withstand
unintentional bangs and bumps.

BTW, the Shockwave holds 5 shells in the mag, but the Remington TAC-14 only holds 4.

I don't understand why Remington didn't extend the magazine out to the end of the barrel to allow for a 5th shell.
This is why I bought the Mossberg. Also, I prefer the corn cob forend to the Magpul. I've been an 870 guy for 40 years and never owned a Mossberg until now. Maybe it's about time.

I've always been an 870 guy because my dad was, so that's what we had the most of growing up. But once I started working with and using more 500's and 590's, man that safety on top of the receiver was AWESOME! Don't know why but it was a game changer for me. Only thing I don't like is that 870's seem to have a lot more after market options.
Oh well....to each his own I guess....

I like the Aguila Minishells. Got them in Buckshot, Slugs and shot.

When I got the 12ga Shockwave and TAC-14 I tested the Aguila a good bit. (along with a couple other brands of short shells, don't try a longer short shell with the Mini Clip installed, it jams bad)

But even with the Opsol Mini Clip in the Shockwave I got a number of jams in both the Mossberg and Remington with the Aguila Minishells. A couple times the "Mini Clip" shifted causing jams.
Not a lot, maybe ten malfunctions between both guns.
But enough that I'd rather have the nightstand guns loaded with full size Buckshot shells. (I favor Federal "Flite Control Wad Buckshot").

So if you are going to keep your Shockwave or TAC-14 loaded with the Mini shells (and I would like to) test them good for malfunctions.

I sent them an email and I was first in line for the latest batch, they were sold out just based on backorders like mine. I'd recommend sending him an email, they make beautiful stuff.

Yeah, I actually compared my Remington Tac-14 to my 870 with pistol grip and 18" barrel, with 6 shot magazine. They were almost exactly the same overall length - less than an inch difference.

Why not just buy the Remington 870 version (Tac 14)? That's what I have - great gun. You can add a +1 extension to even the magazine up with the end of the barrel.

Vang Comp Systems makes both a 1 and 2 round extensions for the 590s that comes complete with new spring, follower, cap and sling mount and Brownells carries them both but the two round model is a special order the single is a standard carry item. I have a one round extension on its way in to me as a early Christmas gift to myself. It will not add an additional 2 3/4 inch round but it will add extra Aguilla Mini Shells. The Shockwave tube length works kinda weird when you do the math to get extra rounds so you would have to get the 2 round extension to be able to add one 3 inch or 2 3/4 inch or atleast that is what I was told by a few people at a local gunshop but I am not sure if the info is 100% correct till I get my own kit in sometime this week.

I’ve had a pistol grip 870 for quite a while. The shorter length is awesome, but the grip angle of the Pachmayr places a great deal of the recoil directly into the wrist. The birgshead grip on the Shockwave fixes this for me.
