Is a blue gun worth the money?

I'm brand new here and there may already be threads on this topic, but I've been thinking about getting a blue gun G19 to train with. Are they worth the money? What can you do with it besides drawing practice and disarming training? Thanks.

Either a blue gun or a toy that matches your carry.

Just the thing for practicing clearing your house, or moving to get your kids to safety, or running a drill dry when your relay isn't on the line, or practicing weapon retention, or practicing disarms, or...

Or you could use a blue gun as a "safe" open carry protest. Even have the "assault rifles" available in blue gun. Would look pretty stupid to be walkin' down the street, or shopping in a big box store that prohibits firearms, with a blue gun open carried in a holster. Would be a great protest point - but without the "worry" of the cops being able to do anything about it.

Welcome to GT! Nice to have you on board.

I have never been even mildly interested in a blue gun, but I don't practice as intently as others who have posted above. I guess the value depends on how you might use it in ways your unloaded G19 wouldn't work; I can't think of any.

Good luck. Be safe.

I bought the Blade-tech training barrel that 511 markets. It allows me to train with my actual Glock while reducing the chance of somehow miraculously discharging it to nil. (which is a definite plus because a discharge in my apartment would be inside city limits and a misdemeanor)

Oh, and it's 10 bucks.

I think anyone who doesn't have a range to practice on and doesn't own some kind of training aid --- dummy gun, training barrel, snap caps or something isn't really serious about their training and/or is asking for trouble.

I do currently use snap caps when at the range. My brother and I load each other's mags and sneak in snap caps so the other guy doesn't know where they are. Great malfunction clearing training.

The Blackhawk Demonstrators are often cheapest, but the gray ones are not as conspicuous as the yellow, and you want conspicuous to relieve concerns in the minds of others. I have gray G17 and j-frame, and I keep them concealed because they look too real to mess around in public. Wish they weighed more. Only $24.95 at LA Police Gear.

They are useful for every type of training that doesn't require making loud noises and small holes.

A distant second choice would be airsoft, but they are more fragile, expensive, and too easily mistaken for real guns. And they leave little pellets all over the house. Both are useful for force on force training.

That cops only seems to explain the lack of BLUE glocks. Yellow's good enough - thanks

Don't do ebay for multiple reasons.

GOOD LORD THE INSANITY!!

Went to Blackhawk, they only have the G17....tried searching for more and their webpage search engine only brings up what they want to sell me, not what I search for

Okay, over to LA Police Gear - same thing. Search engine is useless...blue gun, yellow gun, demonstrator gun, training gun all bring up pants and holsters and gun oils....

So tried 5.11 Like Blackhawk only the G17

Rings has that too bad so sad message but their search engine was a waste too....the techies that set up these insane website search engines don't care what we're looking for - they figure I'm stupid enough to buy something else they suggest while losing the sale on the table...total insanity!

Now you understand why I went with the training barrel. I can practice with my actual 19.

But wait, there's more-- they make those for 17, 20, 21, 19 and 26 sized guns -- so pretty much all of them except the long slides, especially when you consider you can always buy one that's too long and cut it down, which is presumably how you'd get one for like, a G30 or something-- get the 21 barrel and cut it.

I have several. Use them all the time. Wouldn't be without one. But then again I am an instructor so your needs may not be the same as mine.

If you're having trouble with Ring's blue guns, the competitor is Asp's red guns.

Thanks. Found red walkie talkies and red flashlights and red guns for other manufacturers, but no red Glocks.

Can't help but wonder what the problem is. Does Glock think someone's gonna paint a blue gun black and use it for illegal purposes. Why not worry about painting a real Glock blue to fool folks that its not real?

I remain amazed at the insanity of lawyers.

I just ordered a Glock 19 blue gun on www.securityprousa.com. $54. As you mentioned with other websites, it's hard to find. But I just searched "blue gun" in their site search box and a bunch came up.

Thanks, off to check it out....

Good Golly Miss Molly!! Like six pages of blue guns and red guns from a LOT of different manufacturers and models.

For Glock, the 19/23/32, the 26/27/33, and the 17/22/31.....

And the prices were great. Thanks!
