I have both a 19 and a 26. Personally I actually shoot the 26 better. I feel that the 19 is more comfortable in the hand because of the full size grip, however the 26 is still easy to shoot. The 9mm is easy to control is a small weapon like the 26. Honestly, I would make your choice based on your use. If you are even thinking about concealed carry then go with the 26. If that is not a concern, then go with the 19. Both are fantastic weapons.

I've got both the G19 and G26.

I also have some pretty big hands. (I only get my middle finger, and half of my ring finger on the gripframe of the G26! I've added a Pearce +2 to one magazine to get a better 'purchase' on the pistol!)

The G19 shoots like the bullets are riding a laserbeam to the target.
The G26 shoot pretty darned much the same.

On my last trip to the range, my shooting partner and I did a drill of drawing our carry pistol(s) and engaging an approaching target that starts at 15 yards and stops at 1 yard.
With the G26, all shots are in the black and X-ring.
It's verrrrrrrrrrrry controlable!!

Bottom line. . . . shoot both and see which one YOU prefer!!!!

Haven't shot a G19. I don't use my G26 for plinking much, but that's only because I can't afford to buy a huge amount of ammo. G26 is very comfortable, minimal recoil, extremely accurate, and totally concealable. I might get a G19 or 17 someday when I can afford it.

The G26 doesn't have enough recoil to be concerned about. I finally put mine on a shelf and bought a G27. Lots more power and again not enough recoil to be a problem.

there is a g19 Im inquiring about, he wants around 450 FTF and it is practically new, w night sights... might just go g26 though from another guy for $400... dont know which to do yet, need to save money but it may be worth the extra 50 for something Im actually more happy with in long run.

G19 you'll have more control over, but not much. Either is a good choice, rent one at your range and shoot the 19 and the 26. You can't go wrong regardless of which you may choose. Sound's like if you are considering a pinky extension for the 26, why not just get the 19 and you'll have a bit greater mag. capacity too rather than 10 rounds in the 26. You're a winner either way going Glock.

I have shot a couple mags out of my buddies 19 gen4 and own a 26 gen4. The 26 has slightly more recoil then the 19 but not enough to be classified as "snappy." I shot the 19 a hair better then my 26 but the 26 is no slouch when it comes to putting rounds where they need to go as long as you do your part.

If you want a weapon that is super easy to conceal and accurate then the 26 is the best choice. The 19 is not impossible to conceal but I don't find it as easy as the 26 and is slightly heavier but not uncomfortable or a major issue.

to me, YES. you will get used to it though

I'll pile on here, not much recoil difference between the 19 and 26. I carry my 19 more often because its only a little bit harder to conceal (especially in winter) and I shoot my 19 better. Increased capacity is nice but I don't feel under-gunned with the 26 either.

I don't care for the back strap hump on the 26, but that's just me. The 2 finger thing may take some getting used to but I found it to be a non-issue.

Im negotiating w some guys and possible buy is a glock 26 versus 19. Before that I was going to buy a Sig Sp2022. While shopping around Im finding I can get a gently used glock for the same ballpark price (400).

So I think I want to go glock If I can.

I know that a larger gun in general will have better control.

I hear that smaller guns like the Keltec PF9 is really snappy and not as fun to shoot, less comfortable.

I want a gun that is manageable and fun at the range. And somewhat accurate w quick follow ups.

So my main question is : glock 26 a lot less manageable with more recoil than a 19?

The 26 I prob can get for about 400, whereas the 19 Im looking at is a bit more expensive about 450. But its got almost no rounds through the gun. The 26 has about 700 rounds.

The 26 has extra grip tape, and I can prob get a pinky extension.

Should I just spend the extra 50 dollars?? really trying to save money.. and this will be mainly my defense weapon, not a frequent range gun.

Get the 26. You can always get a 19 later.

thanks for reading all my questions lol!
I can
The 26 is more snappy than the 19, but not by much. Put a pinky extension on it, you wont even notice. I use my 26 for IDPA, because it's the semi-auto that I have. I've been shopping for a better IDPA pistol, but the 26 will still be for carry.

I have both, and a 17 also, and I don't notice any more recoil across them.

FWIW - I shoot GSSF 3-4 matches per year, and my scores are about the same with the 26, 19, and 17.

The 26 was my first, and only Glock for about 10 years, so I've shot it a lot more. I also find I've carried it more than the 19 due mainly to the size difference. I do carry 19 mags for a reload when I carry. Lately, however, I'm carrying my 19 a bit more. it seems to ride flatter to my side with my MTAC. the longer barrel/slide causes the grip to tuck in tighter.

Others have said the same thing:

For carry, get the 26. For range & HD, get the 19.

As far as a good deal, the 26 with stock sights, and the 19 with night sights are about equal, so price shouldn't be a factor in this decision. If you carry, I'd recommend night sights, so that's something to think about if you get the 26.

Really, it doesn't matter which you'll choose. Eventually, you'll have both anyhow.

Wow Dominart, I see you live in Smyrna. Can you go over there and get guns cheaper right from the factory...or I guess from the distribution center? That would be sweet!
