I have a .45 and a 10mm HP carbine, both are reliable and no complaints.
In 9mm, there’s a lot to choose from, but move up a caliber and not so much.
I like PCCs and also have a CZ Scorpion Evo, A Beretta Storm, and a Sub2K. All great but the HP beats em all in price. Anyone shopping for an HP isn’t looking to spend a grand on a Scorpion.
Field strip? Why bother? Most of these PCCs aren’t designed to be regularly field stripped like an AR or an AK. On all my pistol caliber blowback carbines I just lock the bolt open and clean what I can get to.
And as bad as the HP trigger is, my Sub2K & TNW ASR 10mm carbine is MUCH much worse.

Yes, I absolutely don't like them. Why? Because a semi-auto pistol caliber carbine is basically a semi-auto only version of a subgun and since magazine size is not limited by concealability concerns like a pistol, and because subguns traditionally have large capacity magazines, The fact that I can't use high capacity fun sticks in a Hi-poiint carbine is what is the deal breaker for me.

Otherwise, there isn't anything else wrong with them except that they're kind of funny looking. But the company has previously made the statement that they don't ever want to make any hi-cap versions because those guns would be illegal in some states. So that means the company is never going to re-design their guns to use Hi-cap mags or use Glock mags which would be nice in the 40 and 9mm guns but wouldn't help much in the 10mm and 45 caliber guns.

The gun I'd like to see someone make is a semi-auto only version of the M3A1 Grease gun with a 20 or 30 round mag. The whole point of those guns was they were stamped steel and cheap to manufacture. So why can't someone make one today and sell it for an affordable price?

I once owned a CZ Scorpion EVO S3 with several correct mags. And I put a brace on it. It was a marvelous patrol PCC on duty when I was a LEO.

When I retired last year there was all that talk going on about the BATF making braces a thing of the past. Or pay a fine for owning one. And I no longer needed it.

I just said *EFF it and took it to my LGS for trade on something else. While I was filling out the Form 4475 for another gun some guy bought my braced Scorpion on the spot while I was still at the counter.

You just never know what can happen.

I guess it will take a while for Hi-Point 10-shot carbines to show up on the .GOV radar.......

Until then, well.... I don't think I am going to draw much attention with my 1095.

Not that I don't like, I just don't have. I have a lot of rifles I like. I have no need for another, not even a cheaply made one. There are other rifles I would like to have, but can't afford. I wouldn't buy a rifle I don't need just because it is cheap compared to what I would like to have.

I had a 9mm hipoint that I put several thousand rounds through. It never jammed, and it was very accurate, even at 100yds. At 50yds, it would shoot a 10rd group the size of a 50 cent piece. White box, +P, +P+, didn't matter, shot them all great.
The 10mm interests me.

Someone needs to buy her some gun oil. That thing is covered in rust. Oh and get her some shooting lessons too.

As for Hi-Points, friend of my sons has one in .45 ACP. I had some lead target handloads and that thing was so quiet I thought it had a suppressor.

One time, my pal and I were at the range, had been there a couple hours. We were at the 100yd line, my friend was sorting out his Century CETME. I had my Hipoint 995 with a cheap red dot on it. So I decided to shoot up a 50rd box of UMC FMJ I had.
I decided to shoot standing, offhand, as fast as I could shoot and load the magazine. I had a large paper plate posted, and I went through those 50rds pretty quickly.
When I checked the target, most of the rounds had hit the plate! The range master said “I was going to tell you not to shoot so fast, but I saw you were hitting the target, so…”

I should add, when I bought that 995, they were $139 for the gun, and then they had a package deal, gun, red dot sight, two spare mags, and a nice nylon case, all for about $200.

I kept that 995 in the bedroom closet, and it was always handy when better, more expensive guns were locked in the safe.

I’ve had a couple Hi-point pistols come through as trades. Had a 40 cal I gave $80 for that I kept in my Polaris RZR until I traded it for a Sccy (would have honestly rather kept the hi-point compared to the sccy but got $200 trade in value at my LGS) and all of them always did their job. I’ve got a sub 2000 that currently plays the roll of truck gun/ trail gun. But I’ve strongly considered picking up a hi-point carbine or two just to have. I’m a firm believer in using things… and it would not hurt my feelings whatsoever to trash a hi-point out on the trails.

I thought about the HiPoint carbine for about 5 seconds, but the fact that it takes single-stack mags was enough for me to pass on it immediately. It has other major drawbacks, but 30+ round mags should be the norm for a PCC. If you haven't seen a HiPoint carbine with a "high capacity" mag, google it. It'll make you vomit.

I get it, they're inexpensive, and to their credit, they seem to work. It's just not for me.

All-in-All for a slightly premium price over the HP 995, I'd rather have the the Kel-Tec S-2000
This. At least the KelTec can fold up to fit in a backpack and it takes reliable, abundant, double-stack high-capacity mags. I think the KelTec is also ugly, but I'd much rather have one of those over the HiPoint carbine.

His post didn't have a lot of relevance since a few posts later he admitted, "I’ve never shot one, but I heard they work."

How about you?
