Everybody needs a .22 or 10.
My 5 would be
My Ruger 1911 in .45
One of my 22/45s probably the light
My M&P full size 9mm racegun
My 9mm shield cause I can't shoot the .45 worth a hoot
My gen 2 G22 cause cause it's a tank that will never die

I almost fetched me a LCR in 9mm to keep from adding another caliber and to help burn up some of this 9mm ammo I got cluttering up the house. But I went with .357 magnum. So I'm down to four pistols and the ol lady has three and we have boxes of .38sp, .38+p and two flavors of .357mag added to the clutter. I wouldn't mind thinning the herd a teensy more.

(1) A pocket gun: .380 Ruger or P-3AT.
(2) 3" .357 Revolver.
(3) A hunting gun: 6"+ .357 or above.
(4) A fun gun: 4"+ .44 or above.
(5) Glock 17.

I’ve had more at one time but I’ve settled on a practical role based trifecta (+1)...

Glock 19
S&W 686
Colt 1911

The +1 is yet to be purchased, but it’ll be a quality revolver chambered in 22LR.

Limiting oneself to 9mm is awfully restrictive. In that case, I’d just go for the same platform for magazine, parts and accessories compatibility.

K-22 or modern equivalent .22lr
Ruger Mark IV slabside.
Kimber Classic Stainless Gold Match .45
S&W 29/629 .44 mag or 586/686 in .357
Compact 3rd Gen S&W in 40 or 45 for defense (or Sig DAK)

Colt Government Model, .45 ACP, mild custom, Carbona Blue
Colt CCO, 9x23 Win., mild custom, NP3 Plus over Salt Nitride
Colt Python, 6 inch, tuned, Royal Blue by RGS Restorations
Colt King Cobra, 6 inch, tuned, NP3 Plus
SAI Tier 1 Gen 3 Glock 19, DLC Slide

I tend to have very specific likes.

- Sig Sauer P229 Legion .357sig(with a .40 barrel, you get two guns in one, if you really get crazy you could get the 9mm caliber exchange kit and have 3 guns in one)
- Springfield XDS 3.3 .45
- Springfield XDM 3.8 Compact .45.
- Sig Sauer P226 Legion 9mm.
- Slot open for future choice.

2 x G19 while limiting yourself to 5 guns doesn't make sense. A G19 will serve for decades so why the redundancy? Hi-power and M9 is also not for me.

I don't know... limiting myself doesn't make sense... you only live once, so what's the point?

Anyways, this would be my list:

1.) G40 for home defense and woods
2.) P365 for daily carry
3.) P229 Legion for occasional carry
4.) GP-100 .327 Federal Magnum for fun at the range
5.) Nighthawk T3 to look at
