If we knew how many pistols Glock made this year, both here and Austria, then add in another 10%, at least, for new ones already in stock would get you close to the numbers. The number of NIB Glocks still sitting in dealers cases has to be minute.

That estimate is based on an annual report Glock filed with the Austrian authorities earlier this year. Glock reported $556 million in sales in 2017, but its revenues were even higher in 2016. The company pulled in about $750 million in revenue in 2016. The drop in sales last year was likely due to the fact that gun enthusiasts stocked up on weapons the previous year in anticipation of stricter gun regulations under a possible Hillary Clinton presidency, according to Dionisio.

And yet the general public (especially on this forum) want's to constantly second guess their engineering experience, and modify with aftermarket parts to make it "better".

Plastic sights serve 2 purposes:
1- you can easily knock them out and replace with your personal favorites.
2- keeps the cost down, if you want guns with steel sights, they will cost more for you to buy....pay now or pay later.

When you send in a Glock with functional complaints, the first thing they do is replace all the parts with new original stock components before diagnosis.

 

I know of at least 7.

 

Further analysis besides my Post_10 with estimates/assumptions:

Austrian handgun imports to the USA from 2010-2017 was 6,932,517; disregarding other Austrian handgun brands; Glocks made in USA; and Glocks exported out of the USA.

20% (I judgementally estimated to be from Glock) of all handgun imports into the USA from 1986-2009 (as I couldn't find imports just from Austria, would be 369,197.

My 2018 estimate from Post_10: 1,064, 127.

My total estimate for Glocks in the U.S.: 8,365,841.

 

No idea, but America imported 1.3 million pistols from Austria in 2016. Gotta figure the vast majority of those were Glock’s, and of course does not include US manufactured Glocks.

Took me a 5 second Google search to find the answer, but there are plenty of enablers here that will find the answer for you.

 

I am not sure getting to Glock's annual sales is an easy search. You have to combine US made Glocks (and remove those exported), Austrian Glocks (and since it is by country only, have to estimate what percentage is comprised by Styr over the many years), and then you have to look at all the data and guess annually back to about 1986, and add it up (with many of those years not having data hosted online!).

There is no public metric whereby one can get the answer. This is educated guesswork using the data we can see and speculating. Glock doesn't publish their data, and the Feds don't share the data we need for an easy answer.

I think that is about the best we can do.
(Imports by Austria) - (guess of guns imported from Austria by different company) +
(Glocks Manufactured in USA) - (Made in USA but exported) = best approximation of annual Glock handgun sales in the US.


Steyr is a small percentage of the Austrian guns. Whether that is 0.1%, 1%, or 10%, or more is open for speculation, but any guess around 1% won't be so far off (over or under) to mess up the math much.

Your guesses make sense to me. Without pulling up all the historical Federal annual Import and Domestic Manufacture reports, this guess is probably close enough.

 

It seems as if the answer is every one of them.

 

One critical point to note is that from the BATFE Firearms Commerce Report (where we see guns made/imported and by which country), it states specifically that this includes all non-military sales (includes guns for the public, FBI, police, etc., but NOT guns for the military).

"The AFMER report excludes production for the U.S. military but includes firearms purchased by domestic law enforcement agencies."

So the total imported are not just gun store sales to individuals, but also include guns sold to law enforcement agencies, which would include police departments, the FBI, ICE, etc.).

 

The answer is 29 Glocks.

Just for the record, I too would love to have a breakdown of all Glock's Military & Law Enforcement contracts & purchases. Now, we all know how unlikely that is, but someone, somewhere must at least have an idea of them ? Years ago, circa 1992, I contacted Glock for some information, & they sent me a package with a list of their recent Law Enforcement purchases, along with their 1990 or 1992 Armorer's Manual. [ I can't recall exact date I'll have to look ] Apparently, at that point in time, Glock was still actively seeking contract sales & market acceptance. Too bad they still aren't as accommodating ? Oh well, we can always hope that someday Glock will publish a list of all their major sales.

I personally sold two (2) Glocks last year.

 

I'd say there are 863 Glocks in the US. All the rest were lost in lakes or accidentally dropped into volcanoes.
