Max set 4 world records last weekend, 2 in CO and 2 in open.

KC set six including in open and PCC

Not bad for has beens
Lets talk again after Nationals and the world shoot. Comparing Steel challenge to USPSA/IPSC is like comparing oranges to airplanes. Dave did really well too, 6 months after total hip replacement. BJ is lucky to come in the top 40 at a major USPSA match and dominates SC.
LOL.

That's because Taran is an Alien... Watch is his one handed plate vids. And I've know Taran since he was as skinny as the BeeGees. He wasn't always on the heavy side, but he can shoot.

I was a bit shocked that the guy expects to be a GM having shot 2500 rounds in a year! I shoot about 250 per week and if I were evaluated by most of the experienced long term shooters on GT I’m sure I would be classified as a FH. (..... Hack).

It’s like finding a baseball in your garage and wondering....”How long before I can pitch for the Yankees?”

The way USPSA classifiers are static is a poor indication of match performance. Not saying I sand bag but I'm too old and hurt in too many places to ever keep up with the young athletic guys. I don't want to move up. Steel Challenge is a different story. As it is now I soak my trigger finger in Aspercream before a match.

Speaking of finding a baseball and all. I've got a couple 22 Target rifles I shoot several hundred rounds a month in. How long before I can win at Camp Perry? My dad did when he was 17 but I'm not 17 so I missed that boat.

People are making fun cause you are making outrageous claims. You watch a couple YouTube videos and declare it looks easy even though you don't even shoot 50 rounds a week. It looks easy cause you are watching pros who make it look easy cause of years and 100s of thousands of rounds shot. You are minimizing what people work hard to achieve without ever shooting a match. Most competitors are a little more humble then to talk smack without even shooting, especially to strangers. Show up at a match taking like that and when you embarrass yourself, they'll laugh you off the range. Show up and be humble and when you suck, they will help you all you want.

Limited Master before my medical downgrade, which was long overdue since the last motorcycle crash. I just reviewed a video of myself from last Saturdays match and concluded that I used to be fast, 15 years ago. Squib, there are only a hand full of competitive shooters here. Like I said, all the Hoser's hang out at Benos..

Ok. So you are not a GM?

If you are not a GM, how can you tell me what is required to be a GM?

I got his book in and started reading. Seems like common sense stuff.

And you were right it is Brian.

Nope, never will be in USPSA. I may make it in Steel Challange though. How can I tell you? Cause I know a bunch and I know what they do to get there, how much they shoot, the drills they use and classes they take. They shoot more after a match then you shoot in a month. Every weekend. They set up classifiers they are weak at and shoot them endlessly. Then they go home and start reloading for a mid week indoor match or tweaking their guns. You don't put in the work is how I know you won't make it. Reading books and watching vids is fine, but til you put in the work, your just blowing dung out of your mouth.

So Robert Vogel's Production Classifier was 76.3 percent back in 05. He is currently at 99.6 and number 8 in the USPSA Top 20. Ben Stoeger is number 11 and currently at 99.4 in Production. If you join the USPSA then you can view all this stuff under the members area.

USPSA is not really fun, if you are serious about competition, it's very, very hard work. Sure most of the membership are C and D guys, only there to have fun and shoot a couple of matches a month. But Master and above, the fun is long gone, and it pretty much takes over your life... All the guys that I know, have known for decades, got divorced on their way to Grand Master. I was probably about to be served divorce papers when got rear ended on my 84 Aspencade, and was out of the game for 18 months. So I no longer ride, am still married, and still shoot USPSA, but it is really only for socializing and having fun with my crew. My mission today is to get the newbies up to speed on fundamentals, then hand them off to the local GMs so they can really zoom up.

Being good at any shooting sport is a perishable skill. One of my problems is I shoot to many different types of matches. Our local outlaw type rimfire match, SASS the next day. USPSA the next weekend. Outlaw carbine match the next and steel Challange the next. When I just shot .22 matches years ago, I was much faster. But now I don't practice it much and have slowed down. This summer I plan on concentrating on steel Challange more as there are matches most weekends within 2 hours drive. Plus I'm really enjoying new class I started, PCC. Started out at B, should be able to get up to A soon.
