I have five dedicated 22 LR AR-15’s and two conversion kits. I’ve been playing around with 22 LR in AR-15’s since the mid 90’s. I personally like the Atchisson/CMMG pattern of 22 LR bolts and magazines. There are more accessories and after market support for this pattern bolt.

Some of the other bolt designs use an extractor held in by detents/spring and if you experience an out of battery you’re likely to loose parts or sustain damage. If you shoot 22 rimfire enough you eventually can experience an out of battery ignition.

Not sure yet about sights or pistol brace but there is a picatinny rail mount where the buffer tube is supposed to be.

It's definitely not finished yet but it is coming along!

The barrel will be installed this weekend along with the handguard. The takedown pins are EXTREMELY tight so I will need to figure out what to do there. Other than that it is looking really good, IMHO, of course. 👍

What's the name of the rear picatinny adapter?

 

How did you color the receivers? Is that spray paint?

 

Yes, I used a primer and then a couple coats of this:

I let it cure for about 10 days before I started building.

 

Well, all of you that voted "YES, Go for It!!!", here she is! 👏👏👏

I have since found an anodized yellow lower receiver and will eventually replace this painted one.

I think it turned out great and can't wait to shoot it! I will say this, that red upper receiver is extremely tight on the yellow lower! Hopefully it will eventually loosen up a little so I don't have to hammer in/out the takedown and pivot pins.
