Hello fellow "General Glocking" Glock Talkers,

Just wanted to bring up Blue Label Glocks, what they are, and how you can purchase them even if you are not military, law enforcement, or a first responder. Reading about $600+ Gen 5's on the retail market prompted me to post this.

Blue Label Glocks are no different than their commercial counterparts as far as the firearm is concerned. No select parts (although the G17L, G24, G34, G35, G40, G41 will usually be configured for law enforcement i.e. 5.5 trigger pull, thanks Mike-M), markings, serial numbers, etc to distinguish them as blue labels. If the firearm is a non sub compact, they will come with 3 magazines instead of the 2 that Gen 3's normally have. The Glock case will have a Blue label, instead of the White or Red label most commercial versions have (there are other colored labels for factory refurbs, etc).

What is different than the commercial version is price. Here are the prices for a Gen 5 Glock 17 with standard sights from GT Distributors,

https://www.gtdist.com/brands/glock.html

Retail - $559
Blue Label sold to military, law enforcement, or a first responder - $398.20
Blue Label sold to GSSF Member with coupon - $425

GSSF is the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation, www.gssfonline.com for more info.

After paying for your second year of membership, you will receive two membership cards. One is marked "GSSF Pistol Purchase Coupon". With that card you qualify for the purchase of one Blue Label. I have read that if you initially pay for a 2 year or longer membership with GSSF you will get your PPC on the first card mailing, but have not verified that nor do I know if it's consistent policy.

The biggest hurdle is living somewhat close to a Glock Distributor or Blue Label dealer that honors GSSF coupons (not all do). Check out these links for Blue Label purchasing locations, more info about the Blue Label Glock program, and the "suggested" Blue Label pricing for GSSF members.

The second hurdle is to make sure you receive the correct number of magazines with your Blue Label. The number of mags that should come with the firearm is clearly marked on the Blue Label on the carry case. Be sure to check that, sad but true some dealers swipe mags.

Check out the GSSF forum here at Glock Talk for more info

EDIT: Added a link to the GSSF Suggested Price List

That's good info, Barry.

It may be worth noting that Blue Label Competition (5.3-inch barrel) and Long-Slide (6.0-inch barrel) models (G17L, G24, G34, G35, G40, G41) do differ from non-BL versions of the same models. The BL version usually replaces their:
- MINUS connector with 5.5-lbf connector (UNMARKED for pre-Gen4, DOT for Gen4),
- Extended Slide Stop Lever with standard SSL,
- Extended Magazine Catch with standard MC,
- Polymer Adjustable Rear Sight with polymer Fixed Rear Sight.

Just FWIW. :)

Buckshot, you raise good points, but may I also point out that there is a sticky thread in the GSSF forum with current GSSF Blue Label pricing (which may not always track LE Blue Label Pricing)

https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/new-gssf-pistol-purchase-price-list.1610565/

There is another sticky thread in the GSSF forum with a list of GSSF participating Blue Label dealers. Not all Blue Label dealers will sell to GSSF coupon holders.

Thank you John

I personally think that several Glock Talk "General Glocking" readers have no idea what GSSF is and the great discount that we receive as members.

Why else would "most" "General Glocking" readers still be paying retail?

Just sharing with them. Thanks

I can confirm this as I am brand new to shooting and recently joined GSSF. If you initially sign up for two or more years of membership you will immediately receive pistol purchase coupon. You will receive another every following year so as long as you have an active membership.

The GSSF Pricing is only a recommended price and here in Connecticut EVERY blue Label dealer adds $25-50 bucks on top of that.

As soon as my permit comes in I’ll be using the coupon to buy a Gen 5 17 or 19 :)

Ok, I’ll chime in as a new guy re the Blue Label program...
Is there a difference to the buyer who gets Blue Label pricing via a GSSF membership v. showing a DD214 discharge form from military service?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
I don't personally have experience with DD214's but from
https://us.glock.com/bluelabel
  • Military personnel including Reservists and National Guard with I.D also includes retired Military with "retired" credentials (Military picture ID front & back)
    (Excludes Contractors and Civilian Employees)
    DD214/discharge papers do not qualify
    - If you cannot submit your ID please use our dealer locator to find a dealer in your area.
So I think GSSF membership with the Pistol Purchase Coupon is your best bet in buying a Blue Label at the GSSF price, which is about $25 more than what military, LEO, and first reponders would pay

Confirming, if you buy a two year membership then you get your first pistol certificate upfront, it comes with the initial membership packet. I submitted my application on a Tuesday, got my packet in the mail Saturday, sourced a blue label dealer Sunday, and bought a 17.5 ($425!) on Thursday. Unfortunately, I don't have a Blue Label dealer super close (in metro Indy area), it's about a 25 min drive to one, but well worth it at that cost. Made the membership very worth it, and I believe I'll get my second coupon January of next year. The dealer did have to specifically order a BL version for me, but it was a 2-day turnaround. No additional fees except for normal tax.

Unless this has changed, the GSSF price is a recommendation. The dealer can charge more if he so chooses.

You are right. I purchased G45 gen5 blue label from a GSSF dealer and was surprised that the price was $575 while the GSSF published price is $425. I know that the dealer is gauging me because I can purchase the same gun for $475 without the blue label online. I guess you should check before you pay.
