Anyone shoot stock or basically stock Glocks in USPSA? Production, CO, Limited, etc.... How competitive are you with a Glock pistol?

I shoot a G35 gen3 in Limited. Only thing stock is frame, slide and barrel (for now).

I shot Limited with an out of the box G35. I was only a Class C shooter but my biggest problem was forgetting targets. I'd score great on the stages with fewer targets but I'd always forget those hidden ones on the bigger stages. Mental mistakes were my biggest problem.

Shot G34s and G35s (minor .40) in Production for about 5 years. Then I tried a Shadow 2 in competition, with no prior experience on it, and that was end of Glocks as a primary USPSA gun for me.

Early on I tried the G35 in Limited shooting major. Yuck! Granted, I had a pair of STIs at the time, so I was kind of spoiled.

Yes. 34 & 35 Open, limited, & now carry optic.

I will, maybe even next year move to a 2011 but I’ve been saying that for a long time. I play to beat my group of friends- not win at the sectional or nationals, etc.

Im excited about Carry Optic next year with my Gen5 34 & you ain’t shooting a 2011 in CO, so I wont shoot anything else in that division.

Mostly the old dog/new tricks problem. At the end of the day- I carry a Glock so I want my fun guns to have similar controls.

What was the main difference? The additional weight of the CZ? It would make sense. And then you have Bob Vogel who went from a 2011 to a Glock 34/35 platform and kept winning.

Bob Vogel is an anomaly. Most people will shoot the STI better in Limited, including Dave Sevigny.

Re: Shadow 2 - You’d have to try one to understand. I bought one on a whim and actually didn’t like it at first. Shooting a match changed my mind. The weight is a big factor. The trigger is really good stock, and amazing with very little work. The accuracy is incredible, shooting better groups than my Les Baer. The gun tracks under recoil great. I’m not sure it’s the weight, or the right internal slide rail setup. Oh, in my hand they point very well, even though not the most comfortable grip, which is why I didn’t like it at first.

I shot a various 34’s and 17’s in production starting in 2006 or so. Took a very long break starting in 2011. Just shot a couple matches in 2019 to stick my nose in and see what was going on. Virtually everybody now is shooting 40+ oz CZ’s and Tanfo’s with 2 pound single action trigger pulls.

My opinion may not be popular or even accurate, but I think you can make grand master with a Glock in production or limited if you want. I think Bob Vogel and Shane Cooley are going to win some big matches with Glocks, and I think the guy who dry fires an hour a day, and live fires 3 times a week is going to beat the guy who doesn’t regardless of pistols.

BUT I don’t think the Glock is honestly the optimal platform for the current rule sets of USPSA or IPSC. It’s fine and works obviously, but if you took out price, ease of Maintainence, time invested in platform etc... I think Glock would not be most top competitors first pick.

I handled a Shadow 2 in a LGS and hated the way it felt in my hand.

Staff, I shot a G24C and a G17L (Major 9) in Open for a few years, also a G21 in L10, a G34 in Production, a G31 in Limited (Major), and a G17 in Carry Optics. Today, mostly a G17 in Limited Minor. But, as already stated, their are much better choices for competition than Glocks. 2011 for Open, Limited, and L10. CZ for Production and SigX5 for Carry Optics. Much heavier guns with much better triggers. However, everyone I know, that doesn't shoot Glocks in competition, carries a Glock off duty.
