Glock Gen 5 and Duty Holster Compatibility

Anyone packing a Gen 5 or 17/19M that can comment on compatibility with Safariland duty holsters? I'm particularly interested in the 6360 and similar ALS holsters from Safariland. I've done a fair amount of searching and haven't been able to find anything other than a Safariland announcement regarding Gen 5 holsters. Even that announcement didn't provide any concrete info.

Several of us on my department's firearms training staff have been pushing for 9mm's for sometime. We recently got a new "chief range officer" followed quickly by a new chief of police. The new bosses are open to 9mm and have requested Gen 5 Glocks to T&E. (we're currently packing Gen 4 22's, 23's and 27's.)

I'm just trying to gather some preliminary info so we can start crunching numbers on what a switch will cost us.

Thanks for the help guys!

We are replacing our entire fleet with Gen 5, both 17's and 19's. We were able to get some to shoot and tried them in multiple different duty holsters with no issues. The ALS was one we tried, though I can't remember the specific model number. No issues for us.

Good news! Thanks!

Just wanted to come back and update this thread. As mentioned above, we are currently carrying .40 cal Gen 4’s we’re also using Streamlight TLR-1’s.

A few weeks ago we received a Gen 5 17 to test. What we discovered was that with the TLR attached, the pistols would not fit our current Safariland 6360 holsters. There is a very small difference in the rail on the Gen 5 pistols, apparently due to the changes in the recoil spring assembly. The difference is small enough that the Gen 5 with my Surefire X300 ( which is a little lower profile than the TLR) fit the holsters fine.

We also found the Gen 5 fit slightly more snugly, but fine in our non-light bearing holsters. The ambi slide stop was surprisingly not an issue in any of our Safariland holsters.

We just got issued the new G19 along with a new ALS duty holster.

Previously I was carrying a G23 and found that the holster on my TAC vest that I used does not fit the new G19. I actually had to heat the holster up to give it some more room.

We are making the swap soon also. From what I have seen the tolerances in the holster mold is enough that some work and some don’t. Which makes it difficult because there are so many mixed reports.

I ha e gotten mixed results. I have a basket weave and nylon non WML 6360 that I am hoping fit the gen 5. I got them cheap and am hoping they work.

We are still delayed on our shipment. Glock is behind on the LE sales. Been waiting on them since October.

Really wish I could just keep my P226. Been carrying it since I started, and have the accoutrements that I need, mags and holsters and such.
