What’s the tightest groups anybody has been able to achieve with a G48 at 20 to 25 yards. The other day I couldn’t get under 5” at 20 yards rested on a sandbag with a variety of ammo. I wonder if the skinny barrel and slide limit mechanical accuracy? I think it’s more likely that these little guns are just a LOT more difficult to shoot accurately. I also wonder if a 43X might have more inherent mechanical accuracy (think G26/G30 vs their larger counterparts). In for any info.

Also, please, I’m begging... don’t school me on the fact that gun battles happen at 7 yards. Or that sandbag shooting doesn’t illustrate a shooter’s skill. I’m well aware of these facts. Just genuinely curious if anyone has explored the mechanical accuracy limitations of the new slimline Glocks.
Not sure

I don’t waste time shooting small carry guns at that distance. Plenty of other handguns for that.

I went out and shot this today, in the 95F heat, just for this thread :)

Used a sandbag to steady the wrists, but I can tell you that most variation you see here is due to short sight radius and operator error :)

Thank you sir. Mighty fine shooting. It seems like ALL good groups have been posted from 43X’s. May just be because it’s more popular than the 48, not sure?

If I had a 48, I’d shoot some groups for ya. I just don’t have a need for a single stack 19. If my wife didn’t love the 43x, I probably wouldn’t have that either. I like them each good enough. But at this point for me carry wise I compare everything to a 19/23 or woods wise a g20. Nothing yet has beat them for me.

I can assure you the 48 will do the same. I did ~2" off hand at 20 yards in 104 degree heat and I can barely hit my ass on a good day. :D

Good shooting ithaca!

But like BAC1023 said, "I don’t waste time shooting small carry guns at that distance." BTW, I don't have a bench or bag - WTF. IMHO, it is an insipid and stupid question! These guns will shoot better groups (locked down) than any Dumb-A on this web site. I'm out. Good bye.

I’m glad to hear you had the marksmanship skills to produce such excellent accuracy with your 48.

I’m uninterested in your judgement about the value of the question in the original post. Insipid commentary, IMHO.

I have a 48, and generally really like it quite a bit. Never owned a 43 or 43X, but have a 17 get 4 and a 34 ten 5.

I will try to make it to the range tomorrow to shoot it off a sandbag and see how it does. I will try the same off of either my 17 or 34...

The G48 is an awesome little shooter. Can keep shots in the head on life size target, all day long out to 40yds.... Plenty good enough!

As some have said, and I agree, I generally train out to a 15 yd max, with my SD guns, and then toss in a few 25/40 yd shots for fun. We sometimes still shoot the Glocks, and 'ALL else' out here to 300yds, at caliche rocks in the canyon wall, white on red, and when hit they explode like a sack of flour. ;)

Good shooting.

That is pretty dam good.

OK, so got to the range last night, brought my G48
It has the apex trigger shoe, but stock trigger bar and internals.
(I just really hate that stepped glock trigger shoe)

I shot 124 grain reloads, round nose FMJ's
Indoor range, hands on a sand bag on the lane table, standing
15 yards: 1.5" group
20 yards: 2.5: group, would have been closer to 1.5" but I had a flier (right side, I flinched...)

I would have shot my G34 gen 5, or G17 gen 4, with the same parameters, but current ammo costs are just silly.

I feel like my G48 is as accurate as my other Glocks, when I do my part. I usually can keep a full mag inside a 6" plate, drawing from the holster at 10-15 yards

Is holding a small pistol on a sand bag, by hand, a scientific procedure for documenting inherent accuracy from a mechanical perspective: probably not. There are probably better ways to do this. But does that help answer someone else's question: probably. Was it fun to try: absolutely. Will I try it again with other guns: probably. Why not, it was fun!

Thanks for posting this question.

All else being same, I can't see how the 43x would be more accurate than the 48. The 48 has a 3/4 inch longer barrel, so again, I can't see how the 43x could ever be more accurate. But I am just some idiot who knows enough to know he doesn't know anything, so I'm going to stop now.

 That’s impressive! I wish I could shoot my G43 like that. (I’m working on it, though.)
Thanks,

I’m still working on it to. Just started using that gun in GSSF pocket division. Normally just shoot my 17. I do great on the GlockM and five to Glock courses. Range masters even comment how well I shoot it at longer range. Then I get to the plates and have a little trouble. Hardly ever miss at the range, but in competition I go a little to fast and nerves. Plus little room for error with 7 rounds compared to 11 with my 17. But “Glock the plates” have always given me some issues. But I’m having fun working it out.:D
