What’s the tightest groups anybody has been able to achieve with a G48 at 20 to 25 yards. The other day I couldn’t get under 5” at 20 yards rested on a sandbag with a variety of ammo. I wonder if the skinny barrel and slide limit mechanical accuracy? I think it’s more likely that these little guns are just a LOT more difficult to shoot accurately. I also wonder if a 43X might have more inherent mechanical accuracy (think G26/G30 vs their larger counterparts). In for any info.

Also, please, I’m begging... don’t school me on the fact that gun battles happen at 7 yards. Or that sandbag shooting doesn’t illustrate a shooter’s skill. I’m well aware of these facts. Just genuinely curious if anyone has explored the mechanical accuracy limitations of the new slimline Glocks.

FWIW some very skilled guys on PF seem to prefer the 43x. One of the very best, who I believe took Matchmeister at Savannah GSSF last year, posted some ~3” offhand groups from his X.

I’m sure the 48 is capabable of more than I’m getting out of it. Maybe I’ll try some different handloads in it soon.

You sure that isn’t more vision related? I have a dovetail RDS on my G48 and offhand it shoots groups as tight as anything else I have. I can do a 25 yard group off a rest sometime for you, but I have not noticed any accuracy issues. In fact, I was really impressed with it when using the RDS.

Meeseeks, did this last Friday. Off-hand at 20 yards with my G48. I was working on my splits at 5-7 yards. Just about out of ammo (Win 124 NATO). I decided to give it try with my last few rounds for the heck of it. It is about 2" c to c horizontal. I was happy with the vertical variance ~1". The horizontal variance is mostly due to the heavy trigger (red striker spring).

The black horizontal line was my reference point using the "half-n-half" hold. I was tired and it was HOT. Give me minute and I'll think of some more excuses. :D About the same as my G17. I thought it was O.K. I rarely shoot beyond 12 yards. I have about 2500 rds through gun. I has Ameriglo Hackathorn (sp?) sights and Overwatch TAC trigger with a "red" Glock striker spring.

I was a little disappointed with mine when I first got it... shooting 5-6" groups at 20-25 yards. I started shooting 147 grain ammo out of it and it routinely shoots 2" at that distance now off a rest.

I recently ran it through a 50 round tactical qualification course on a B-27 target at 5-25 yards. I shot 100% on it with only two rounds being out of the 10 ring and into the 9. I was shooting Federal 147 grain TC ammo that day. I carry Ranger 127 gr. +P+ as a carry round. It will do about 4" at 20 yards but I will trade the slightly larger groups for what that round does on the terminal end. I need to test some of the 147 gr. Ranger

Wonder if they went to a 1 in 10 twist to cater to popular 147’s. I’m all in on 124’s. Thousands of components. Thanks for the info.

I know for myself anything out past 15 yards IS vision related. At 42 I can sure tell my eyes aren't as "Fresh" as they used to be.

That is the big reason I am working on a Red Dot Optic Glock now. :D

I'm not the greatest shot on this forum, far from it, but, from an improvised rest, I've done about 2 inches at 50 feet (maximum distance at my indoor range) with my G43X and fairly close to that, maybe 3 inches, off hand. I was pretty inaccurate with it offhand at first, but, after about 450 or or so rounds, I've gotten so that I can shoot it only a whisker less accurately than my 19.5. Maybe that doesn't give you the information you want, but it is what I can give you. I really do like my 43X now, and feel very comfortable with it for EDC; it's now my main carry.

The 42’s are quite possibly the most accurate Glocks in our stable.

Several shooting buddies have LOL’d at the idea of the little 42 out shooting its full sized brothers.

But the laughing stops when we bring out the Ransom Rest!
I haven't gotten mine down yet. I need to shoot a lot more rounds through it. I keep shooting wide to the left.
