Box stock. Ate everything, yes the usual FTF every once in a while. But like all my Glocks up until today. Ran and ran never an issue until today. I came here to share it. I agree this is not my choice for anything other than plinking , training or squirrels. Lose the 44 for any carry or home defense. IMHO. NOBODY WAS MORE SHOCKED THAN ME.
The picture does not appear to show an OEM barrel.

The son in law has a G44 that we shot at the GSSF match at Camp Perry this year. We both shot the course twice and never did get to finish the match because of malfunctions, usually failure to feed or failure to eject. It wouldn't even begin to shoot standard velocity ammo.

I know it’s an old thread but was it being run suppressed? I haven’t read all the replies but the barrel didn’t look like the flat front of a non threaded barrel and that second photo looks like a suppressor installed.

What ammo were you using and also were you making sure to load the mags correctly?

I have one of the first released G44s with the old style extractor. It functioned fine with CCI Standard right out of the box. I have stuck with shooting Aquila Super Extra HV, CCI Standard, CCI Mini Mags, And Federal Champion ammo in mine. I stay away from cheap bulk ammo in all my rimfire pistols, especially ones with a reciprocating slide such as the G44 or TX22.

I have never had luck with bulk Remington ammo such as the thunder duds or Federal Auto Match inn my pistols. You know its bad when a Ruger MkII, Ruger 10/22 and a Marlin 60 all choke on that stuff.

Thank you for posting this along with the pictures. You have now made up my decision in which to NOT purchase this particular Glock pistol. I have always been suspect of this design. Glock Inc. allegedly spent several years in development and fired millions of various .22 LR rounds before marketing this pistol. Hopefully this is just a rare incident.

There are a few of us that have well over 20,000 rounds fired through the G44 without any issues. So I wouldn't say that it is a bad design. Even the polymer locking block in mine is still the original from the factory with a high round count.

I don't think we ever did get the full story from the OP on how his slide broke. And it is about the only example of a G44 slide breaking that I have seen.
