Yes I shoot a 34 in IDPA.
They come with extended controls from the factory. I replaced the crappy sights with the Warren Tactical Sevigny F/O sights.

For trigger you are going to get a lot of different recommendations here is my budget recipe:
Lone Wolf 3.5 connector
Wolff extra power trigger spring
Wolff reduced power firing pin spring
Wolff reduced power firing pin safety spring
Polish all mating surfaces

I've used my G34 in both IPSC and IDPA. I did a 25 cent trigger job, went with a lighter recoil spring, put on the rubber decal grips and swapped out the sights. I first went with the Dawson fiber optic sights but then swapped them for the XS Big Dot sights which for me, are a lot faster.

Do you know what weight the stock spring is and what did you replace it with? Did you see any noticeable gains for this mod?

You'd be better off with a Vanek, if you're going to spend that much coin on your trigger.

Ask ryucasta (or however it's spelled)... He's run both in multiple guns. I wholeheartedly love the Vanek trigger in my 34. I've got a lightened striker in there and I went to a standard (5 lb) connector, but the trigger is otherwise exactly the way Charlie does 'em, and it feels terrific.

The 3 most important things are sights, trigger and recoil spring.

I recommend starting with a 13 then do timing drills and fine tune for your load.
Lots of good sights out there. Some of the best are Race Cut Heinie or Sevigny sights.
Many good triggers too, just get it from a reliable source that understands the rules.

Of all the Glock competition triggers I have purchased over the years (CGR, DMW, NHO, Sotelo, GlockWorx and Vanek) for USPSA (Limited and Production) and IDPA (CDP, ESP and SSP) competition I have found nothing out there that compares to the Vanek Glock trigger. His Fitted and Drop In kits are the standard that everyone else tries to attain but to date have yet to reach period.

Change sights, lots of good choices.

Arotek - not legal in SSP or Production and Glock 34 is already extended.

Ext. slide release - already extended on G34. Some people replace with the standard slide release due to bumping the extended one during rapid fire.

Trigger - Vanek if gun is for competition only. I would not carry a Glock with a 2# trigger. G34 comes with 3.5 connector, you can do the .25 trigger job and have a good Glock trigger.

Best, Rik

Actually what some of you are calling the G34/35 Glock Factory Extended Magazine Release is originally from the G20/21. As far as the slide release is concerned its really a matter of preference I use the Glock Factory Extended Slide release on all of my competition Glock's and have yet to experience any problems but YMMV.

I put dawson precision sights on my 34 and 35. home trigger jobs in both, i bought trigger springs from glockmiester and polished polished polished. metal guide rods with lighter springs on the 35, stock on the 34. I bought a ice magwell and put it on my 35 for limited uspsa, and move it to my 34 for esp. idpa. grip tape all over the 35.

SIGHTS! I use the Heinie race cut night sights, but just about anything you see on the CGR site will work.

You can run the factory recoil spring, but I use a 14lb. Wolff spring to keep the brass from hitting me in the head/face with minor 9mm. If you want to shoot SSP class, you'll need to use the stock guide rod.

Aerotek mag catch would bump you into ESP class. That'd be enhanced service pistol, not a class for psychics.

Vanek triggers kits are all IDPA legal AFAIK. If the Ultimate Trigger package is not USPSA Production legal, it may not get past some IDPA officials either, for SSP anyway.

The CCF frame needs to be lightened to make the weight restrictions of IDPA, I think. Be sure to read through this thread.

I'm thinking of a CCF Stainless frame for IDPA.

The Vanek trigger is legal?
The CCF frame, to the best of my knowledge, isn't legal in IDPA at all. Or USPSA Production. If it is IDPA legal, it would surely move you from SSP into ESP, where you'd want to add a magwell and a couple of other widgets to remain competitive.

Which of the Vanek triggers is the best?

The Grand Master or do I send it in and let Vanek do his magic?
I run the "Trigger kit #1" - the $120ish drop-in kit, and I'm very happy with it. The trigger you get when you ship it to him is supposed to be even better, but I'm VERY happy with mine, it's very light, 100% reliable, and I can swap it from gun to gun without issues.

I don't know if Charile does anything else in the GM kit besides adding a ligthweight striker, but you can buy a Lightning Strike lightened steel striker for $50, FYI.

I run the drop-in with a lightened striker, and I swapped out the LWD 3.5 connector he uses for a severly polished stock 5-lb connector. This took every trace of sponginess (and there was very little compared to the stock gun) out of the trigger. It's got a very crisp break, and is STILL lighter than a stock 34/35's trigger - I'd estimate it at about 3 pounds.
