Gals and Guys, I have two 21SF's. Both have ambi mag releases and 1913 rails.
Glock says they were made in 2007. They have generously offered to replace the frames with standard Glock rail, left side mag release. The customer service rep, says the magazine releases were problematic, and are no longer supported with parts. Both of my pistols run perfectly. Anyone else own any of these ambi pistols? Anyone had issues?

Thank you! That's my feeling! I had a $100.00 horse hide holster made for them and I have had zero issues! ( thus far ) I suppose I could buy another SF and retire the current ones... Not that I think they have some crazy collector value, but I bought them together and like them!

I have one and it hasn't been an issue, of course I haven't put that many rounds through it. I do keep the mag release well lubricated so it operates smoothly. I also don't plan on getting the frame replaced because they are getting hard to find.

Thank you! I like them and they've served me well! I suppose I could just buy another W/S FG&R and retire mine...

I have one. Even though I'm left handed I never felt the need to change the magazine release. I have about 5k rounds through mine. No problems at all.

I had one, and the magazine always fell out after a reload, I could look for the letter i sent Glock at the time to confirm the problems. At first they want to replace just the bottom of the fire arm and then Glock ended up giving me a new gen4 G21 (was when they first came out) I actually had to wait for them to become available. LOVE ! my 21 its a great firearm

Great customer service! Wow! I have strange question? On the Gen 4, with the smallest blackstrap installed, is the grip circumference any smaller then the SF model? For a fella 6'3 and 200lbs, I have the hands of a 12 year old girl! The original 21 was way to big in my hands to be comfortable.
Hence, buying the SF model(s)
Thank you!

I've found two replacement stories. One here and one from another source. One, (here) was offered a Gen 4 and the other was sent a standard FG&R SF. I'm still inclined to keep mine intact. If Glock replaces the frame, you are still left with a frankenglock of sorts, all though they do record a frame replacement at the factory. Additionally, since it is technically a new gun, you have to re-dross the "new" gun and the Fed.'s and state get their vig. If you live in free America you are fine once the fee's have been paid, but my state will impound the new frame for ten days.

I got two of the 21SF ambi, consecutive serial numbers and they have never been fired.
I thought about sending them in to Glock, but I read that they were sending Gen III's to replace these.
I don't think the 21SF came out till Gen-3.

The SFs are only available in gen 3s because they didn't come up with the idea before gen 3s came out and the base (small) gen 4s are the SF size. A medium insert returns it to the non-SF gen 3 size and a large insert is, well, larger.
As far as the ambi/picatinny version, if my memory serves, that was initial offering of the SF variation and after problems with the mag release and complaints about the picatinny rail not being compatible with existing accessories (especially holsters), Glock gave up on those changes and only kept the SF as a variation. I have one of them and have kept it because it's a rarity. It's not worth a lot extra today, but it will be someday.

I found a related, unrelated article in an old American Rifleman magazine, at the Dr.'s office.
It only said something to the affect, that the ambi/Pic rail pistols were Glock's bid to interest the military in Glock pistols..... It didn't specify model or caliber.
I don't know that the pistols will ever be more the a curiosity in the Glock world.
I have yet to have an issue with either pistol.
At the cost of a new Glock 21, 21SF, 41 I don't think I'll ever send them back.
Also, from time to time full frames come up for sale on auction sites...
I may eventually buy a complete SF frame, for shooting and put the ambi frame(s) away.
Thank you!
