I'm quite familiar with and an okay shot with the Glock 17 and 19 in 9mm with rail-mounted lights and green laser. I have a DryFireMag that I practice daily with the Glocks with noticeable improvement in trigger control. I also have the .22LR conversion for the Glock 17 so I can simulate shooting and performing the manual of arms on 9mm at the range. I shoot more accurately with the Glock 19, which is now my home defense pistol. I'm left eye, right hand dominant, but found that with some practice left-handed, I now shoot equally accurately with either hand, though the right hand is faster. I plan to practice more left-handed to increase my speed.

While it sounds like the Glock 19 is a winner, at one of my big box LGSs, an employee, whose store doesn't stock CZ75s, told me how he likes his CZ75. I did some research, then ordered a CZ75 P-01 NATO/non-tactical, 9mm, "limited capacity" per CZ (10 round mags) and am interested in a CZ75 BD for the retro/old school look and manual decocker. Being subject to California's 1-in-30 rule, I can pick up the CZ75 P-01 in mid-June, the CZ75BD in mid-July.

And being in California, I'm limited to 10 round mags and on-roster pistols, all of the above actually being in roster, but not in every variation (eg Gen 4 and Gen 5 Glocks are not on-roster).

I know that the ultimate answer would be dry fire and simulations at home and practicing at the range. I'm wondering if the CZ75 would or could be better for home defense (I have stucco walls on two sides and a deep hill on a third, no kids in the house) and for SHTF? For example, CZ75 mags are less common and more expensive than Glock mags. I also don't see lots of spare parts for the CZ as I do Glocks. I like the option of the CZ75s DA or SA for the first round, too.

You would want to go to a range that has a CZ to rent and give it a tryout.
CZ and Glock are very different designs....Glock is striker fired and CZ is hammer fired.
MecGar makes reliable mags for CZ and they are not hard to find.
Glocks are easy for the end user to work on, CZ's not so much.

Thanks, everyone.

individ, what are the advantages of the Gen 4 G19s?
Over the Gen 3's that are more commonly available in CA, the Gen 4's have a more aggressive grip texture and an improved recoil spring assembly that mainly just lasts a bit longer.

The main thing IMO is the grip adjustment backstraps. I have large hands and overall just prefer a fuller grip across the board, so I can appreciate the option to increase the grip radius a bit.

Not saying there's anything wrong with Gen 3. Not the case at all, a Gen 3 is just as good.

The Glock 19 and the CZ75 are both reliable. I keep things simple. I have both and it is the questions of if you want a hammer or striker. An all steel 75 is pretty nice !!!!!!

You will like the CZ75. You’ll probably shoot better with it. Play they just feel better in the hand and soak up recoil really well.
Nothing wrong with the Glock you’ll just need more practice to be as efficient. I like them both. Use my CZ for home defense and carry a Glock when I’m in the mood.

Thanks!
tercel89 ahnd Lagamor, how many rounds have you fired through your CZ75?
Have you had any problems with it?
What might be some good spare parts to have handy?
I have a CZ75 full-size , compact and a full-size single-action-only. They all work great. There are a huge amount of aftermarket things for them. Mec-Gar makes great magazines for them. Shoot them and clean them. They will do you well !!!!!

I much prefer the CZ 75B over striker fired polymer pistols. It has been said to be the world's most copied pistol design.
Greg Cotes has the 10 round Mec-Gar magazines for $22.

As a glock carrier of over 15 years I felt the CZ P01 was good enough that it has replaced my G19. I just flat our shoot better with the P01.

Your milage may vary.
I agree , I carried and still am carrying a Glock on my job for over 25 years. The CZ platform shoots way better than the Glock. They are both great but a CZ is just NICE !!!!

I had a sp01 I liked it. Very smooth very accurate. Just didn't like the smallish slide. Had a double feed and didn't like how it wasent so easy to clear vs a Glock.
That's just me. Ymmv.
