So I have this Glock 17L, and recently acquired a LWD threaded barrel for it. So since I don't have a suppressor yet, I got a Lone Wolf 9mm major brake for it. Gotta screw something on it right?

I tested it out on Sunday. It works well. Too well. It takes so much recoil out that the pistol no longer cycles (at least that's what I think).

I did not think to try the pistol/ barrel combo without the brake installed, but it runs flawlessly with the factory barrel. I bought the barrel from a friend who used it for suppressor demos so it should be ok.

So, ditch the brake or get a weaker spring? What weight?

Dunno. Thoughts?

running a comp on long slides tends to create problems. to really take advantage of the comp you need to use major PF ammo. load some with some medium to slow powder, HS-6, Power Pistol, AA-7, and Super Comp are popular. running a lighter spring is part of the equation.

Well, I don't reload so that might be a problem. Any good reliable hotter ammo out there?

Also, what weight spring would be a good place to start? I just have the stock one right now. I think it's 17lbs.

From the LWD website:

The Lone Wolf 9mm Major compensator offers a unique advantage to the discriminating competitive shooter. This exceptional performance is accomplished in 2 simultaneous steps. First, the redirection of gas to a 30 degree rearward angle actually pulls the barrel forward, reducing felt recoil. Second, the redirection of gas vertically provides a genuine reduction in muzzle rise. The result allows the shooters sights to remain on target or realigned quickly providing faster accurate follow up shots.

Want your compensator custom engraved? Check out our custom engraving options here.
Popular choices are "Smile, Wait for Flash" and "Warning, Lead Poisoning" around the muzzle.

*Lone Wolf Distributors provides a quality engineered light weight system that delivers maximum performance at 1/2 the cost of similar compensators.

Fits standard LWD 9mm barrels threaded 1/2 x 28 models G17,17L,19,26,34.
Will not fit any LWD 9mm conversion barrels threaded 1/2 x 28 models 22/9, 23/9, 24/9, 27/9, 35/9.
We highly recommend the use of LWD stainless guide rod and ISMI standard power recoil springs (up to increased power) with this product.
Light loads, reduced power loads and standard ammunition WILL NOT RUN RELIABLY. You must use +P, +P+, 9mm Major, or 357 Sig loads with this compensator.

What ammo were you using?? Winchester White Box? Braser Brass? Tula?
I'd also bet you can get it to run 100% with a reduced power recoil spring but "Which One"
Good Luck!!

I'd Call Lone Wolf & ask?? They will more than likely tell you 9mm Major or 9mm +P+

I too am interested in what you find out but will have to say being my 17L is 100% with any ammo run with the factory barrel it would be hard to change that..
You may also run into problems using the can & sub-sonic ammo as well..
Your gonna need a reduced power recoil spring..
