With the US House passing the Hearing Protection Act
And as I understand it sending it to the Senate
Getting a Suppressor might be easier soon

Of the current Suppressors available
Witch one should I look at ?
Cheapest is less important than long term quality

Thanks
John

Cool thread. I bought one of the Glock 17 Gen 1 repops that are currently available for a very good price. I like the simplicity of the gun, a Gen 3 that looks like a Gen 1. I added OEM extended mag and extended release along with OEM night sights. If the suppressor thing actually happens I will get an aftermarket threaded barrel and an old school suppressor. How cool is that?

I've got an old Silencerco Octane 45. I'm happy with it and can use it on anything from 22 to 45. Just need to buy the correct adapter (piston). It works great on my Glock 17. Not very expensive either.

Look at the CGS MOD 9. Works well on my Sigs, berettas and Glocks.

It is very well balanced but is not modular. I've been told that if you do get a modular can (long or short configuration options) they pretty much remain in the long configuration as the short config is no significant sound reduction.

But keep in mind that a pistol with a suppressor is pretty much just a range toy, gimmick. Almost zero practicality in using the firearm correctly or as intended.

IMO, a suppressor on a long gun or SBR is actually beneficial. Reduced noise while hunting with a bolt gun (if your state allows it). Also, the blast from an SBR, especially if it is 5.56, is begging to be suppressed. Unsuppressed 5.56 from 12" or shorter barrel is extremely percussive; teeth rattling loud. You may want to dive into a 30 cal or ar-15 type suppressor to get the most smiles from using a "silencer".

I wear mine around the farm in a Crye Gunclip to deal with snakes and other pests. Loaded up with 147 grain subs it's not as spooky to the horses. Other than that, it's just for saving my ears when I'm shooting.

I'd recommend anyone with a suppressed Glock pick up a Gunclip. Not too expensive and an easy way to carry a suppressed pistol. Obviously not for concealed use or carry in public though 😂.

I love my Liberty Suppressors Mystic X on my Glock 22 with 9mm threaded conversion barrel:

But it's even more fun on my Gen 1 S&W M&P 9:

9mm suppressed is just way too much fun at the range! 🤪

A lot of good ones out there these days. I have several pistol cans, but really like my Dead Air Ghost and Rugged Obsidian. Both can be shortened, of course most people use the full configuration. My ears are sensitive to higher frequencies so I can tell a huge difference between long/short config. I have friends that it doesn’t make much difference to though. On a 9mm Glock, the DA Ghost was the most pleasant with pitch and blow back to me. On an Sig P226 9mm, Obsidian performs slightly better . So obviously the solution is to buy several. :ROFLMAO:

All and all, however, 22 cans and rifle cans are more enjoyable and useful in my experience. Pistol suppressors (not including 22) change the feel of the gun quite a bit and aren’t as practical to carry about, increase blow back, and you either need to have an RMR, suppressor sights, or have to “aim thru the can.”

If I were looking to shoot suppressed pistol often, I’d lean towards pistols with integrated suppressors like the SiCo Maxim 9. Wish there more options like that.
