What is the draw to the Gen 4?
What is the draw to the Gen 4?
Actually, I bought the 19 gen 4 about 3 or 4 years ago. So when the red dot came out (or I just never learned about them before), I wanted a red dot! I bought one and became aware of the "r.m.r cut out" and that I did not have one. Some people say buy a used 19 gen 4 and get it cut. But there are not many 19's with the cut out. AND I WANT IT ALL to fit! So that's where I am right now.
Thanks everyone!
Jim

Also all gen3 uppers will fit and function on a gen4 lower - but not the other way around.

So you can easily and cheaply build a RMR cut Gen3 upper that will function just fine with your Gen4 frame and optic. You can buy (rather than piece together build, research, yourself) complete uppers already built for RMR that will work fine on your frame. Many sites sell complete uppers as well as parts for DIY builds. Since you are new, I would suggest just a complete gen3 upper with RMR cut ready to plop-N-play.

OR you can buy a complete Glock 19 style gun with RMR cut for cheap: https://gun.deals/product/glock-19-...k-19-gen-3-style-build-kit-w-rmr-cutout-black-fde-ffl-req-21331-after-code-2024

Like FireMedic said, do some research. What you’re saying really isn’t making a ton of sense, but it sounds like you want to put an optic on your current Gen 4. There’s a lot more that goes into it, so the first step would be finding the red dot you actually want and then decide who you want to mill the slide for you. Keep in mind the process is not typically fast to have done. The other option would be to look into an MOS gun and buy that instead.

I sent my G32.4 slide to Battlewerx for a MOS cut. Just under $200 all in, including refinish slide. They have lots of other options besides MOS (like RMR for example), I just prefer the MOS cut as I prefer the Holosun SCS-MOS optic.

They estimated wait at 6-8 weeks due to refinish. But I have others to shoot until April 😂.

Glockstore.com has some options as well, with 10 day turnaround.

I think the g5 fits the 4 so that'll broaden your horizons.
