So apparently Shield Arms is now offering a Grip Chop service for the G43X. I am very interested in this New Glock. Please post any new pictures or information on the pistol here in General Glocking. Thanks in advance.

It LOOKS great...I think its stupid though...just get the 43 instead......but to each their own.. Oh and I dont need a probably will work but dont know aftermarket mag like the S series in my carry gun if it cant fit stock(that work) mags id be 100% NOT interested...

And I get it youre gonna have some amount of guys using the S series mags that have never had a issue and then on the other hand you also have a PROVEN group that have had them and they dont work..thats enough for me not to want to "risk it".

You can compare the pictures of the Shield Arms grip-chopped G43X with the S10 and S15 magazine. A G43X is approximately 0.75" taller (including the magazine) than a G43. If the S15 magazine sticks out of the grip-chopped G43X frame by more than 0.75", I would think that corresponds to the difference in height as compared to a G43 frame. Of course, this is just a crude approximation.

The whole point would be to pocket carry the G43X Chopped Grip and then you could also normal carry a G43X (not necessarily at the same time). But both could share the same normal size spare mags and not have to keep up with two different size spares. Same as carrying a G19/26 combo with G17 spare mags for both. Keep it simple!!!

I understand why some people might not want this option for themselves.

I don't understand why some can't see the huge appeal to others.

There are many folks still carrying G43s because they like the thinner profile that the G26 doesn't offer but don't want a pistol the same height as a G19/48/43X. But they would love a little extra capacity.

If Glock had released a wider G43 frame that maintained the original G43 height while accepting the new 48/43X magazines, I might have never jumped ship to the P365.

For some people, there’s no way an aftermarket company can be as reliable or more reliable than Glocks, no matter what.

Even if the parts/guns are as reliable.

That said, I don’t know anything about the reliability of the grip chop and the magazines made by Shield Arms in the guns. But as much as I won’t say they ARE as reliable without testing them, I won’t say they AREN’T because I just don’t know.

I'm not a rich person so I purchase my firearms very methodically and logically. I value many simple factors but I think of like tools and like compatability.

I only purchase 9mm, Glocks and pre-owned from reputable LGS to leverage and lower ownership costs. I own 17, 19, 26, 43 and 43X right now. I've had my eye on lookout for 34, 48 and to lesser extent some of the model variants.

I've stuck to Glock OEM version magazines for less obvious logic. If a company makes a product, it's not just about quality and satisfying customer demand. It's about what the company won't put it's name on when it easily could. The best example I can think of is 26 standard OEM 10 rd magazine vs OEM 12 rd magazine that is +2 extension magazine. I have small hands but the short 26 magazine feels different to hold and shoot for me.

I could buy several aftermarket +2 and more extended magazines. I could substitute a 19 or 17 magazine due to compatability. I simply question why Glock is choosing to leave money on table and simply remind myself Gaston and executive team aren't that stupid. There must be some ideas that don't make the best of sense for the product line, kind of like how Apple designs it's product lineup compared with Google or Microsoft offerings.

Kinda like this one I picked up yesterday. 10+1 flush and 13+1 extended is a pretty nice setup. Problem with chopping the Glock is, what happens if it isn't reliable with S10 mags? Do you make sure it's reliable with S15 mags before you chop?

Canik METE MC9 over chopping. For a couple of hundred dollars or less with the cost of chopping and mags, you can have another pistol.

You could always use an OEM Glock 10-round G43X/G48 magazine, but then what's the point of chopping the G43X/G48 frame.

We'll eventually have a PSA Dagger™ Micro 15-round G43X/G48 hybrid polymer/steel magazine (which works with the OEM polymer magazine release), but again, what's the point of chopping the frame.

Eventually someone will manufacture a grip-chopped G43X/G48 frame. My money is on PSA. Obviously, PSA could cut down their Dagger™ Micro magazine to 10 - 13 rounds. Of course, at this point, there's no reason to think the Dagger™ Micro magazine will be any more reliable than a Shield Arms magazine. Only time (and thousands of rounds) will tell ... assuming the Dagger™ Micro magazine ever sees the light of day.

I’ve tried multiple generations of the S15’s in different guns and they just weren’t reliable enough for me to trust them. No way I would cut a gun to only be able to use their mag. We’ll see if the micro dagger mags ever come to fruition. If so they might get me back into a Glock 48.

I wouldn’t cut my G43x frame to run them either.

If/when PSA comes out with a micro dagger frame that is G43x compatible, I’d consider getting one to chop and give it a go. If PSA came out with a pre-chopped frame, that would be even better.

I’m talking range gun here btw, not something I’d carry.

I suppose it would be great for all those people, especially women with their baby sized hands......but definitely not for my big paws. I just fit the Factory grip with the shield magazine installed and can't hold it without the magazine in the gun , my pinky hangs out ! So much for Baby Hands...

An OEM Glock G43 magazine is six rounds. The Shield Arms Z9 magazine (pictured below) is nine rounds. However, the Z9 magazine isn't a flush fit with the G43. The S10 magazine is flush fit with 10 rounds in a grip-chopped G43X/G48 frame that is shorter than a G43 frame. Someone else suggested shortening an OEM Glock G43X/G48 10-round magazine. That doesn't get you anywhere in terms of capacity.

I see the Shield Arms grip-chopped G43X/G48 frame and S10 magazine as nothing more than a proof of concept. I suspect Shield Arms will regret not maintaining the G43 magazine height when (not if) a grip-chopped G43X/G48 frame becomes commercially available. I would expect a commercially-available grip-chopped G43X/G48 frame to preserve the G43 height and the proposed S10 magazine isn't going to fit.
