I've been toying with the idea of getting a 1911 (probably in 9mm) for a while. I was planning on SA RO but walked into my LGS and was introduced to Fusion Firearms and their Freedom line. https://www.fusionfirearms.com

They are located less than an hour from me so that's appealing and I've been told by a former owner that they are very well made....but he was a former owner.

Has anyone here seen them, owned one, have one? Thoughts?

I don't remember the model name but I had one, a bobtail commander model. It was a nice looking gun, fit and finish was very nice, it shot great as well. I don't think I would ever want to buy a new one, resell value is pretty low. I bought this one from the original owner for $1300 and the build sheet totaled about $2200 when he purchased. Fusion gets some negative press but my experience was only good.

I've been happily using their frames & parts for years, built two of their 10mm kits
What is the dark gray finish on their slides and frames? I looked at their website and couldn't find that information.

I like the looks of the entry level Freedom Series - Mil-spec Government (GI) for only $695.00 and the "Bantam" (officer's Model sized) for only $100.00 more

Over the years I've read such totally crappy reviews of their customer service I would never even consider them. From what I remember they don't make a single part they claim to and they can't seem to get a simple order correct. Again just from memory they get a lot of parts from STI.

To be fair damn near all companies that sell 1911 parts have no clue how to fabricate anything they just buy parts and resell them with their name on the package. This includes some of the top 1911 smiths in the industry. Do you think some twit 1911 smith with a Brownells catalog is going to spend $120K on a CNC Wire EDM machine to sell $4K worth of ignition parts a year, that's just retarded.

I have a CCO from Fusion and I am a big fan. It shoots very well right out of the box. (4" in 45 ACP). My local store gave me the back ground on these and knowing that, I didn't hesitate.

I have a 6" 10mm of theirs. Their ION Bond finish isn't quite as durable as I'd like. I had an issue with the grip stups coming off with a grip change so I called Tyler Serva and he did a good job of correcting the issue. Overall, I'd say they pretty good guns; comparable to Dan Wesson for obvious reasons.
