"Price is what you pay. Value is what you get." - Warren Buffett
Oh really? Watch this.

Guy tests the Walmart knife and the Benchmade Bugout.

Guess which one he was able to snap in two by hand. At the the 32:30 mark.

Right before that test, the Walmart knife tip chipped and the Benchmark didn't.

Walmart knife: $10.00

Benchmade knife: $170.00

Been a bunch of YouTube videos on it lately. I got one, seems fine so far.

The only way quality scales to price on something like that is if the buyer takes pride in the novelty of the absurdly low price. But it's still absurd - like buying a $500 house and bragging about it. WTF are you going to do with a $500 house?

So I guess the brag here is that you only wasted $9.97?
The Walmart knife has 99% the functionality of the Benchmade knife, at 5% of the price.

I wouldn't pay $9.97 for the Benchmade version.

And your example is a bit extreme, but ya, it's probably true that 90% of the utility in a quality EDC knife can be had at let's say 25% of the cost. But who cares? 100% of the joy of ownership is in the top 10% of the cost of the knife.

So, you're saying a Benchmade knife is not a joy to own?

If you feel that way about it, I guess you don't have a cell phone or computer, or TV, etc.

Ahhh the age old technology argument.

Poor people have to own knives too. Slave labor from China is your friend. It's all good. Enjoy your commie knife now because your girl Kamala lost and now there's going to be tariffs and you're not going to get that stuff anymore and you're going to be forced to buy American and probably get TDS.

It's not just technology, I bet 90% of the things you own or use is made in China.

But you can't really pick and choose which items that are made in China is acceptable to buy and which aren't.

I mean, if a US-made product is competitively priced with a Chinese one, then sure I'd consider it. I'd even pay more for the US-made item, but not $170 vs $10.

I'm saying the Benchmade version of this knife would not be a joy for me to own at this point in history. I do still have one left from about 35 years ago, and it has some sentimental value. But other than that, I don't want anything from BM at any price.

Right, because they're woke.

I also wouldn't buy anything from BM because of their politics.

Let us know how it works.
I'm intrigued by this one.
Pretty cheap for d2.
I've been carrying it for a few days. It's very sharp. A few swipes on the ceramic rods and it's got bite again. The blade is a bit thin though, so no prying. Best of all I don't have to stress out about losing it or breaking it.
