I had mine done at the West Palm Beach Division of Licensing office on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. You can make a appointment and get everything done there. Application, fingerprints, picture. You have to bring your paperwork and 117.00. I had my permit in less than a week.

I didn't my fingerprints electronicly through the Tampa Police Department but still had to mail the rest this was a couple of years ago, I guess they have really improved the process now.

 

I got my renewal turned around in about a week and a half. They're doing good work up there!

 

Check is OK, but if you use a check they will wait until the check clears to begin the paperwork. Use a money order. My wife did hers electronically but used a check and I mailed mine (with old fashioned fingerprints) and used a money order...hers took 2 weeks longer!

I think I will do this all tomorrow my neighbor and friend has a melanoma on his face and is scheduled for surgery today. I am going to go with him to the surgery center.

 

Hey guys I found a Sheriffs sub station it was just ten minutes away. I called them, open 8-4 come in any day. I went there, they were as nice as could be, took a few minutes gave them five bucks and was on my way.
Didn't do the electronic bit so I will have to wait. That's OK I am used to waiting. Been waiting for this or that my whole life LOL.

Just go do it all in Palm Beach,I called them on a Thurs,got a appointment for that Tues morning. All u need is a check or money order for $117 and your class certificate,app is done there on there computer and they do the electronic prints/pic's right there. I had it in 8days in my mailbox

 

As a side note, I would like to comment on how fast the renewal time is. My CCW expires early next year. I got the renewal notice about a week ago in the mail. I went to walgreens and had passport pics taken and then went to my bank to get the renewal form notarized and mailed them both in with a check for $65. I just got my new license in the mail today. The new license is good for 7 years and no longer shows my home address on the front. Very nice experience.

 

Got my permit in the mail today 8 Oct. 2010, took about 16 days.
