A while back I stumbled onto a few packs of the Remington golden bullet .22, specifically the 225 round boxes. I had thought that it was perhaps time for a really good cleaning of my pre Model 18. When loading one or more cartridges would need a fair amount of a push to go all the way into the cylinder. But no extraction issues. I love to tell you this revolver has a faint turn line but it is only honest to suggest that the faint turn line is mostly because there is a faint touch of blue left. So I of course opted for the lazy choice and squirted something in the cylinders that resembled lubricant. CLP, WD40, Publix extra virgin olive oil; something like that. The problem was not solved at my next range visit.
So a couple weekends ago I broke out the 617. It was also difficult to load and it appeared appreciably cleaner than my other older one.
Last weekend when I was done, I was down to two or three cartridges left in the Remington Golden Bullet box so today I opened up a box of the Federal .36 grain (550 bulk round stuff.) Amazingly the difficult loading has disappeared. However with the Remington I do not believe I had a single misfire with a couple boxes of the stuff. With the Federal today I had a couple misfires which did not fire on a second attempt but did fire after turning the round a bit in the cylinder.
