In the market, what's your favorite auto-opening knife?

Another vote for MicroTech. It seems they are the gold standard. I have the Troodon. I carry it every day.

IMO...If you just want a toy..OTF is cool... If this is a SD EDC tool....At least get a side opener and not an OTF.....OTF are fun but easily jammed with pocket lint.... had a Halo fail to open over of a scrap paper that somehow made it's way into the opening.... Not good when you actually need it for something more than a letter opener...

Side opener can be more reliable.... Often a bit cheaper than an OTF...

Finally keep in mind.. almost all autos make audible noise when opening....

I carry a Kershaw Livewire, and it's been flawless. All knives require some level of maintenance, and it only takes a few seconds. Once a moth I freshen up the edge of the blade, blow a little compressed air inside the knive handle with the blade retracted, and add a drop of decent gun oil on the shank of the blade. Fire the knife about ten times or so, then go about the day. Over a couple of years it hasn't failed me yet.

My experience is limited to a ProTech Godson, a ProTech Snubbie, and a Microtech UTX-85-never had a problem with any of them.

Curious about the Buck 110/112 autos, though. I love the Folding Hunter and Ranger.

I have five Pirahna knives (one OTF) The Pirahna line is an effective product for the money. They can be carried unobtrusively and are made from premium materials.

I like auto knives. Not sure they are any faster to deploy than a good folder with thumb stud or hole, they are just more convenient, especially in cold weather with gloves, awkward positions like working under the truck, and with split fingers that happen too often in the cold, dry, Colorado winter air.

My latest goto is a Benchmade Claymore.
