Maybe I'm weird like that... I enjoy the "clicks", "racks", "pops", "racking", "cocking", "decocking", etc....

The sound of firearms is cool!! Anybody else enjoy the Symphony Of Cold Steel!?

I do like the mechanics and the sound of the workings mating, sliding, engaging, etc.

I also like finely machined mechanical things.

My all time favorite mechanical "thing", was a lever action model 1886, .33 cal. Winchester. When you "flicked" the lever it made a complete transition to the stop so smoothly and solid sounding, it was a dream to use. (I used it for deer hunting when I was a kid)

One of my favorite sounds is the chatter of the recoil spring in the M16 while out on the rifle range while in the Marines. Great time.

Well I use the sound of a pump shotgun to notify me e-mail has arrived so, yeah.

I remember my first time shooting my AR, and hearing the BCG push the recoil spring back in the stock tube......

I was all like "WTF?"

Don't even notice it anymore, I think that sound subsides as the rifle breaks in.

As far as the rest of firearms sounds.......I used to be excited by them, 20 years ago.

The only gun sounds I don't like are the sounds of someone cocking a glock in the movies! Heard a new one the other night. It was about the OK Corral and when Doc closed the double barrelled shotgun, it sounded like someone racking a pump!

Yup! You gotta love gun sounds . . . . . .
* The racking of a pump shotgun.
* The racking of a beefy semi-auto handgun. My Desert Eagle beats my Glock on this one!
* The sound of a magazine being inserted and hit home.
* The cocking of a revolver.
* The pop - boom - thud of a black powder gun firing and actually hearing the ball hit the target backstop.
* Hitting the ejector on a revolver to let the brass fall out -- 6 little "jingles" as they hit the floor.
* The extraordinarily loud sound of the safety clicking off as you're looking down the barrel of your gun at a deer on a cold November morning.
* The sound of a grouse flushing then the bang! bang! as two guys send an ounce of #7 each toward it
* "Pull" --- tchk - Bang! - tchk Bang! (on a clays course)
* The soft thump when re-holstering your CCW

And don't even START on the SMELLS of shooting!!! Gunpowder, Hoppes #9, etc. etc.

+1. The symphony of firearms is created by the mechanical engagement, and the intricate engineering. Some firearms are more characteristic than others. For instance, the "SHOOoomff" my auto-5 makes when it chambers a round from bolt lock. I've heard that behind me before at the range, and it'll make you stop dead in your tracks.

I also enjoy the sound of a well tuned and quick running bolt action in front of an experienced shooter. The clank of an M1A is also very distinctive.

Buddy of mine was showing me a new (used) pistol he picked up. I immediately broke it down for inspection, and smelled the insides of the frame. He looks at me like I'm crazy, and I tell him it's been cleaned with Hoppe's #9. He says what else would someone use? There's something that's for another thread!
