Yep, you have to cycle from the front and be careful not to pinch your fingers. Mid mounted like some of the CZ competition guns is probably better but it affects the aesthetics and that is obviously very important to the designer. Not a gun I would want. It is neat even though it has a bit of an ugly nose.
I don’t use optics

I can see why bac likes it. It's unique, well built, and innovative. Definitely NOT designed for the masses and not made of plastic. For what it is, 50 pieces for the U.S. is probably ambitious unless bac has a few relatives hanging around :)
I hope when he gets his that he gives us a range report along with his "usual" fantastic photos and write-up.
Certainly the pics

Whether or not I fire it remains to be seen. I’ll have to think on it. Chances are, they may do a more basic model in years to come for less money.

Introduced at IWA 2024, I’ve been tracking its progress. One just got to the ATF and the importer is anticipating approval sometime this year, according to the email I received today.

The Elysien is a luxury pistol in every sense of the word. It’s not built for competition, target shooting, or any other singular purpose. It’s simply built to satisfy those with a taste for rare and exotic, high quality handguns.

Coming into the states is a variant specifically built for the US market, called the Eagle Limited Edition. I’ve been on the waiting list, as only 50 pistols will be imported (at least for now). I will upload a picture later, but it’s similar to the silver model in the videos, with some additional graphics. At 10,000 euros, price is way high, but it’s certainly a very cool piece. Between euro to dollar exchange rates and once import fees and tariffs are factored in, it could top $12K, I’m thinking.

I’m obviously looking forward to getting my hands on one.

Has anyone heard of it before now?

Edited to add picture of Eagle Edition:

Sorry, Bac, but as a former art student and a fan of more traditional proportions in mechanical design, that gun is beyond ugly. it's downright wierd looking. It's as though whoever designed it was on a high dosage LSD trip.

I may be overstating my case here, but this funny looking gun has inspired me to express myself creatively.
