Many of us use the ammo that we purchase through our local discount stores. I'm speaking of WWB and Fed Champion.
DannyR has, in the past, posted a list of manufacturers' advertised velocities for several different weights of 9mm ammo, but I wanted to verify several of these for myself. I used a sample value of five cartridges for each test.
I shot this 9mm ammo through my PACT chronograph, using my Gen3 G19 several days ago...and found out that DannyR's data table is "right on."
Winchester USA 115gr "White Box" 9mm Luger FMJ TARGET/RANGE:
Advertised velocity: 1190 fps
Tested velocity: 1193 fps, std deviation = 9.0 fps
Federal Champion 115gr 9mm Luger FMJ RN:
Advertised velocity: 1125 fps
Tested velocity: 1131 fps, std deviation = 9.1 fps
As we've been told, WWB is a bit hotter than Federal Champion, but both manufacturers have a consistent velocity value from one shot to the next.
My G19 loves either one.
