I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape when others express their experiences as different that their own...

I haven't seen one person here claim to be an "expert" in Taurus firearms. What I have seen is people like myself who have had miserable experiences with Taurus firearms and, consequently, don't recommend or buy them based upon those experiences. In fact, I have to wonder if your experiment had turned out badly and your new purchase had been a pile of dog excrement, if you yourself wouldn't be of a different opinion? Either way, sharing experiences - good or bad - is not claiming to be an expert.
Had I known that placing the word “experts” in this context would touch a nerve, I would have rephrased. Please note that I did not refer specifically to “here”. If you honestly haven’t read or heard unsupported opinion about certain brands online, in print, at the range, or in gun shops, I’d like to frequent those places.

As to being “bent out of shape”; not at all, and I’m not sure how that was your takeaway. You are entitled to your opinions based upon your experience and research, and I value them. I took steps to form my own opinion (and enjoy some range time) based upon upon my own experience, which I did not yet have with Taurus, until acquiring my two 856s. Prior to that, I had minimal opinion, and some trepidation regarding Taurus. Now, I am more willing to look at some of their products. MY cheap Taurus handguns work. That doesn’t mean I think they ALL do, nor do I prefer them over many others. But mine work, and they are fun to shoot. If they turned out to be “dog excrement”, my opinion would certainly be different. But part of the fun of this hobby, for me, is forming my viewpoint from MY experience, not someone else’s.

Apologies. I was two days out from major surgery and perhaps a little... edgy.

Surgery is complete, a total success, so back to my old self again (I hope).

I'm glad your experiences have been positive.

Had one of these for awhile s few years back. Cost me less than $250. Should have kept it. (Should have bought more Makarovs, too!) Polish P-83 in 9 x 18. Pleasant to shoot and reliable. And has a tolerable DA trigger unlike another little Polish 9mm Mak that shall go unnamed as for all its faults I rather like it. But the P-83 is a much more practical weapon, if one can still be found.

P 64 by chance? I bought two, C&R, cheap. Brand new, Looked great. Heaviest trigger I ever shot including the Nagant revolver. The single action was so light you were prone to double tap without meaning to. I returned both for a full refund.

Hah, hah, yeah. I really wanted to like that little gun, but that trigger…Supposedly you could put in Wolff springs and do some other simple tweak and get the DA down to where it was only slightly worse than that of the average un-massaged PPK but, why? It would still pretty much suck.

No worries. In fact, your reply has prompted me to review my written words more carefully prior to sending. So, thank you.

Ruger EC9s but I don't consider it a cheap gun it's more in the inexpensive category to me.
A cheap gun that I own and does work is my EAA Windicator 357 snub nose. It's been called the "Hi Point of revolvers" before. I've heard of these revolvers having issues but mine has been great. I've ran everything from wadcutters to full house magnums and it's still as good as the day I got it. The trigger pull sucks at first but mine smoothed out alot after a few hundred rounds and a ton of dry fire. It was my edc for a while and I still carry it sometimes now, keeping it for a woods gun. I would've rather had the version with the 4 inch barrel but otherwise I have no complaints.

Ah yes! The Maks! I had one back in the day. Should never have sold it.

Thank you. It was a great success, and ended with the best expected outcome. It's going to be a long 6-8 week recovery, but I am still here, so that's a success.
