Decided to roll the dice and ordered this pistol from Extar. Process was straight forward and my pistol shipped in 7 business days to my FFL

The SB adjustable brace (whatever adapter if any) was an additional $100 from Extar (installed). Added the angle grip and Swampfox green/dot circle.

Looking forward to comparing this to my Stribog. Planning to keep the EP9 as a daily rider during the work week.

Anybody own the EP 45acp? How does it shoot?

I have the EP9. It is one of the most fun PCCs I have (i also have the Stribog). I'd love the 45 version but we have to wait for our AWB to be thrown out.

How does the EP9 shoot vs Stribog?

I really like shooting mine....I have an older one but no issues or jams with HP or FMJ rounds. I thought about upgrading into the Mlok rail though.

What brand of handstop? Never mind it is an Extar part

Congrats on it. I recently was in the market for an AR9 and the Extar was on my short list due to the good reviews.

I have also read good reviews on their US made mags and just received one in the mail to try. $12 shipped from Extar:

Really? That surprises me!

I handled an EP9 that had 3 or 4 of their mags with it.

On each and every one, if I inserted the mag (empty mag, closed bolt), the magazine would fall apart into its component pieces. Literally. It disassembled itself.

The same amount of force needed to get the mag to lock into place was enough to pop the baseplate off and cause the spring and follower to dump out the bottom.

I don't know what it does loaded (and, yes, I know they say don't insert a loaded mag on a closed bolt) but I wouldn't want to trust that baseplate under load.

Again, each and every magazine did this. It was either a bad batch or it's just a bad design.

I'd recommend sticking to Glock or Magpul.

Love the Extar, but here's my note of caution. I was in a favorite LGS last year when in walks a fellow with a Gen One in hand. He asks if the shop has a gunsmith, and I said yes...but it was his day off. The customer explained that he was experiencing doubling (tripling?) with it.

I know there is a plastic hammer, and perhaps other trigger group parts. I encouraged him that the internals were patterned on AR15 parts. He came the following day, and the shop's smith installed some basic metal G.I. components. I have had him do so with mine, also.

See my avatar... :D

Never get the first model of a gun or a car, except Glocks or Fords. (Humor there, Chevy heads). The updated EP line by Extar has had key components updated, “metal’d“. Love mine. Some refer to the units with those updates now as “version 2” but Extar states that such nomenclature is not theirs but rather the guru’s on YouTube….

I ran across a video of the extar ep9 today, came to GT & search brought me here.

Very tempted to pick one up to celebrate 1/20 😎

Anyone previously posting in this thread have anything else to add to their experience?

FWIW,

My best buddy has one and he loves that damn thing. It’s run great the couple of times I’ve fired it.

I know it was out of stock for the longest time when he was searching for his. He’d get the email update and they’d immediately sell out. This was about 2 years ago…

I’ve seen lots of positive reviews here when I was doing due diligence for him on GT

I've had a gen 1 for a few years now. Downright fun gun and the light weight is impressive. I shot the barrel loose on mine and sent it back in for service. Reasonable turn around time back then. Mine runs well with the clear ETS mags but they're prone to over-insertion on an open bolt. Honestly can't think of any issues with a closed bolt... It's like cheating with a dot.
