I know this is a common topic and I searched before posting, but couldn't find the answer and didn't want to necro an old thread.

Which pistol is the best value when redeeming the GSSF pistol prize certificate? I already qualify for Blue Label purchases, so that's my frame of reference instead of MSRP.

I'm wondering if anyone else has already done all the math to determine which is the best value.

Thanks!

The certificates are good for the basic pistols (19, 17, 22, 26, 27,etc) or you can get the slim line guns or G44 for no out of pocket. The .45 ACP, and 10mm guns require some money to go along with the cert. Night sites, competition guns, long slides, night sights, etc are all an additional charge. Search the GSSF forum. Someone posted a copy of the new cert not long ago. The slim lines or G44 are not the best for your cert bucks, as those blue label guns are less than $400. Just depends on what you want. I think my G34.5 MOS cost me about $150 out of pocket with a cert.

I have used most of my GSSF certificates for the MOS models. I have been able over the years to get Gen 4 G-34 ,G-40 , G-41 and Gen 5 G-19 , two G-34 and a G45. I have used my Pistol Purchase Coupon on a G-48 MOS. Even with the upgrade charge on the MOS models I have made significantly more than I had in the pistols when I sold my Gen 5 G19 MOS and Gen 4 G34 MOS when I upgraded to the Gen 5 G45 and G34 MOS models,

Isn't the certificate price actually higher than the blue label price? If so, I'd sell the certificate to somebody who doesn't get the blue label price and just buy a gun with the money and you both win.

Yes, the GSSF discount price is around $27 more than Blue Label. I used mine to get another GLOCK. Since you’re only allowed two Blue Labels, in a year.

Never heard that, but I buy them at various Blue Label dealers. Nobody has ever asked how many I have bought in a year.

The GSSF price is the same as Blue Label if you buy from a Blue Label Dealer. A BL sub-dealer will charge you more than $398 because he has to buy the gun from the dealer....or that’s been my experience at least.

I have no idea what that is, but it isn't required for buying blue label Glocks. I walk into the dealer, show my ID and buy a gun. Been the same for years, at 3 or 4 different dealers. I didn't have to enroll in anything or send anybody a picture of my ID and nobody else I know ever has.

It looks like you are ordering your guns from Glock, to be sent to a dealer. That is not required.

For 2020, I calculated the value of a GSSF pistol prize at $479. I did this by looking at my 1099 from Glock, and then subtracting out my cash prizes and upgrade fees. I also subtracted out knives and e-tools at MSRP. Then divided this by the # of guns I won to get to $479.

So to get the best value, you use this as a base number and compare it to the Blue Label prices, as well as the award prices + upgrade fees.

So this looked like a fun exercise so I priced them all out, () is how much you give up. So G42 is worst deal and G41-MOS-4, G40-MOS-4 and G34-MOS-5 are best deals as you gain $248.50.

It is required, but not all LE dealers enforce it to the letter. Blue Label or GSSF pricing is not what OP is asking, he is asking the value of a certificate when you win a pistol at a GSSF Match.

OP, whatever you need is what is the best deal. If you qualify for blue label then it is best to sell it. I just went through this and for the most part they are all with within a couple of dollars of each other.

I think I was mentally mixing up a pistol award certificate vs. a GSSF member certificate to buy at blue label prices.

That is what I had determined also when I chose the G41.4 , G40.4 , and both G34.5 and the G45 MOS models although I didn't do the work that you did on all models. Even if you never mount a optic they are a better value in the long run.
