I love my Fenix LD01 pocket light, but I'm still partial to my old, trusted, and somewhat smaller ARC AAA-plus light. The battery life is way longer, and it provides sufficient light for 98% of applications for which one might need such a light.

Better yet -- get both... :)

I have the Fenix E01 on my key ring that takes a beating. It does 10 lumens for 8 hours and only costs $15. Single AAA. There are better options out there but I don't want anything bigger than a single AAA. Besides, when it's dark I pack a real light.

Check out the Quark minis and the new Fenix LD15.

Holy clap -- that LD15 is pretty darned awesome... :wow:

A six-cell C-Battery Kell Light. You can beat the **** out of anybody with that. Screw those wimpy AAA lights. Be a man!

My keychain has so much crap on it already, keys, remotes for car and house alarm, if I put anything else on it, I would not be able to walk. It's bad enough I can barely get the cluster in my pocket

I don't like added weight or bulk on my keychain either.
Keys in my right front pocket with a small plastic light. Adds no weight or bulk.

In my left pocket is one of my CR123A lights with a rechargeable battery.

I used to run a keychain light. I liked having one, but they always failed at some point, as they rode in the pocket with keys and other crap, and ended up getting turned on and running the batteries out.

I went with a streamlight stylus pro, an its a hell of a light for 25 or so dollars. I carry it in my right thigh pocket at work, or in the leg pocket of carharts, and its used every day.

Also, i carry a 4sevens 123a tactical light on the left, for search/social purposes. The streamlight can do nearly anything, and when i need real power, the other light does it.

I got the streamlight while on vacation in FLA..and it paid for itself by helping me find money in crevices at disneyland.

I don't think you can go wrong with an LED light that takes common batteries and has a pocket clip.

Another Fenix EO1 fan here. I used to carry the Freedom Photons, but they were always coming on in my pocket and running down the batteries. The Fenix doesn't do that. Also, the Fenix P1D pictured above is another very small (and very bright) light. I wouldn't carry it on my keys, but I do carry it in my pocket without noticing it.

Yeah -- Count me among those who tried the Photon/Pulsar type button lights. They're certainly handy, but I also had problems with them staying on in the pocket and losing juice. Also, they seem to have relatively short battery lives, and replacing the coin battery is about as expensive as replacing the light itself.

After going through maybe 4 or 5 button lights, I switched to the smallest twist-on pen light I could find at the time (the ARC AAA-P).

WTH?! How'd my secret get out?

I'm not cheap, but I AM frugal and I ALWAYS find some decent coin in the corners of those seats on those dark rides. :whistling:
