Does anyone from IL (Chicagoland area) knows where can I buy some Ballistol locally? I've checked lots of guns shops and stores like Cabellas, Bass Pro, Gander.. and there isn't any. It's funny cuz, when I ask them do they carry any Ballistol - they have no idea what Ballistol is.

Do you need it for a blackpowder rifle? Otherwise, why would you want it, it smells worse than any CLP I've ever smelled. I had to send it back to where I ordered it from.
No. I plan to use it on handguns only. I heard people talk good about it, so I wanna give it a try.

I like Gunzilla and Weapon Shield. I've seen Ballistol's smell described as rancid swiss cheese, and my wife, who found the smell of it offensive, described the smell as "pootie with the worst possible yeast infection". Won't stop you from trying it though, just a heads up. I'm sure it works fine as a CLP, it's just that the smell is horrid.

I just threw up a bit, but she makes a good point. Kano Kroil is the shiznits.

I tried gunzilla and it turned to a thick goo after a while on my guns. Straight out of the bottle it is an excellent cleaner. But I would not use it for long term storage. Weapon shield is great.

I have used ballistol and I don't see what so great about it. Smells bad and its thin. I still have a bottle I am trying to use up. Use it mainly for leather stuff these days.
