Apex vs Timney vs GPT?

Hi!

Considering to replace a trigger on my G19. I have an Apex on my G43X and it is OK. Definitely improved my POI and grouping. I have a Timney Alpha on my G34 and it as a dream. And I currently have a Glock Performance Trigger on that G19. It is great but so gritty I consider replacing. Properly installed and oiled and still feels like sandpaper.
So - I would get the Timney in a heartbeat but this is my carry gun. I am afraid the Timney pull puts me in a dangerous territory.
What would you choose for a carry weapon? Is there anything else in addition to these three?
And is there a way to fix that gritty pull with the GPT? Because frankly I like the feel and the pull, but something is off.

If you follow Mas's advice as I do in the Glock Talk GATE Forum, he points out that the EDC trigger pull weight is also a critical factor. He recommends that the factory/production pull weight be maintained. So whatever brand you choose, you might want to consider that as well. I have had good success with a Zev trigger on one of my Competition (not EDC) Glock 34's.

For carry guns I generally leave them alone except for replacing a serrated Glock trigger face with a smooth one. On woods, range, competition guns, I like a trigger upgrade. APEX is a game changer in the M&P2.0's, and the competition Glocks have Vogel competition triggers in them - you have to mess with the springs to get it great, it's not drop in. I had some Glock Store super expensive $200+ trigger I tried years ago and it sucked. Don't remember the brand. Actually bought it at SHOT show.

It seems to be a never-ending discussion with opinions as to how much, if at all, to modify a stock trigger for EDC (all my handguns are potentially EDC), whether by one part or the entire trigger system.

There's being safe from legal lawsuits or being actually charged with a crime vs. having the trigger (modified vs. stock) aiding in the accuracy.
In my case, unless I change my mind after I type this, I've probably polished some mating surfaces (25¢ trigger job) and replaced the OEM trigger shoe with one from Kineti-Tech.com:

I think my degree of modifications are fairly minimal, but I suppose there will be some folks who wouldn't touch their Glocks at all. My former LE employer wouldn't allow any changes at all (which seems to be a normal policy/rule in LE employer-supplied guns).

While I really like the feel of my 1911 guns' trigger pulls, I don't like carrying my 1911s much due to weight and often the size (personal carry; I'm now retired). Often, I'm now carrying a G26gen3 or 5. I think the weight difference is ~20 ounces which I find noticeable. I'm likely more accurate with my 5" .45 1911 from a draw and at a longer distance from 15 yards out, which might be more important compared to the carry weight.

Note, I've not tried either an Apex, Timney, or GlockPerformanceTrigger. I suppose I'm too frugal to even consider buying into trigger systems which might go up to $250/Timney Kit.

Post 1, I'm wondering if that GPT's grittiness has something wrong going on there, but did hear the GPT is more sensitive to needing lubrication vs. a stock set-up.

I do not if I am necessarily supposed to say this out loud without getting reprimanded, but I use the GPT in my comp guns and all three needed to be disassembled, edges were worked and polished and that gritty, sand paper feel went away. No real difference on the gauge, but the clean-up made it better. But as stated by others, for EDC I leave in the stock trigger, stock pull weight, etc.

As Mas has advised, the prosecutor can argue to the jury that the shooting was accidental/unintentional instead of intentional, due to modifications to the trigger or disabling of a safety device on the gun. It's easier to win a manslaughter conviction by proclaiming negligence or recklessness than to prove intent for murder.

This is called a false allegation, and your modifications to the gun play into the prosecution's "theory".

Have seen several videos showing that Timney are not drop safe. I have not seen one of these for Apex and the company claims on the website that they test the drop safety pretty rigorously.

I have stock trigger in my 19.5 and to me it feels pretty good, it's my home defense so I keep it stock save night sights(ameriglos protectors). I have an Apex Action Enhancement kit installed in my Dagger (gen3 clone just a range fun gun I put mods into).

I feel like the Apex is as light as I would like to go. Personally I'd probably only want stock or duty rated in something I was carrying around. Timney does not give this vibe to me.

After using Timney with my G34, I would never dare to carry with one installed. Apex is about 5.5 in my G43X so I feel secure with it. I don’t think it has the enhancement kit.
